Mainly for me and Chrisfinch to rant about The Ashes. The best game I've been to is this one... ScorecardSeeing Mark Waugh smack 173 was just an incredible experience. The Windies went on to get 299 in reply to our 338. But watching my favourite batsman make that many runs was amazing. Mark Waugh had a batting style I could watch all day. Now I love watching Gilchrist and Ponting bat, but they dont have the same pazazz that Mark Waugh had. Still fantastic to watch. I also loved watching Michael Bevan in action... that man was the master. There have been some great experiences recently. - 257 from Ponting - 250 from Langer - hundreds in 3 consecutive Boxing Day Tests for Hayden - hundred after hundred for Steve Waugh - watching Warne bowl I have been to a few Ashes Tests. I'm now a Melbourne Cricket Club member so I go to every game. The best cricket experience I've had was early this year. The tsunami tribute game at the MCG where you had all those great players under lights in a full MCG. There is nothing like a full MCG. If you have never been a the MCG at night when it's full for a game of cricket.... nothing compares. That was a great night. Enough ranting for now, I'll let someone else have a turn.

I lied, I'm going to rant a big more. This was the first game I ever went to... it was incredible! aus.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1980S/1986-87/We lost the final in the 2nd last over! I was 4yo. We lost and I had to listen to Alan Border give the losing speech. This game was unreal. We left school early to go. We won by 4 runs! I just remember Paul Reiffel dug in a bouncer to Richie Richardson, he smashed it for four. The next ball was a FASTER bouncer and Richie hit it EVEN FURTHER (over the fence)!! The next ball was another bouncer and it went about 20 rows back AT THE MCG!!! aus.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1992-93/Mark Waugh scored 57 and took 5/24!! Then in the next game (the final) Richie only scored 5... McDermott chucked in a bouncer and he smashed it for four. Next ball he dug in another one and Reiffel took the catch right on the boundary at deep-backward square. Some great memories.

I've played in some very exciting games. Infact my very first seniors game was the most memorable. Get this... I took 2 catches at gully in a hat-trick! It was the bowler's last game and my first game and he took a hat-trick. I took another catch as well. I bowled and took 2 wickets with my leg-spin. Then we batted. I was no11 and we were cruising, then we started losing wickets!! Then in the last over we needed about 8 runs to win. The 9th wicket fell on the second last ball when the scores were level. I was so nervous, I wasn't thinking straight. Luckily I was at the non-striker's end and Dom was batting. The ball was bowled and I took off, I almost beat the ball down the pitch I've never run so fast. Dom hit it to gully and I was in by a mile, the throw went to the bowler, Dom dived and made his ground just as the stumps were broken... the umpire game him out and the game was a tie!!
What an amazing first game.
Another highlight was hitting the winning runs in the last over of a game. Making my first 100 in seniors cricket, hitting the winning runs and being not-out after opening. But the best moment was when we won the Premiership last year. That was something special.

WOW, New Zealand smashed 332 to beat us in a day-night game! What an incredible game... just a couple of days after they narrowly missed out on getting our 320 in the last game! Over 650 runs scored in a ODI, that's insane!

What I always like doing... lefties vs righties... who would win?
Lefties -------- Hayden Langer Lara Smith Hussey Fleming Gilchrist Vaas Vettori Hogg Wasim Akram (I always have to give them Wasim 'cos they're always a world-class bowler short)
Gayle/Gangully carry the drinks
Righties ---------- Tendulkar Sehwag Ponting Dravid Kallis Flintoff Boucher Warne Pollock Murali McGrath
Akhtar/Lee with the drinks.

Pretty good Chris. We had a great game on Saturday! We were playing Balwyn at Balwyn and we batted first. I opened the batting as usual and we got off to a solid start. The pitch was a bit slow and the bowling was straight. My opening partner (and now work boss ) was given LBW despite a big inside edge. Couple more wickets fell around me but then one of the juniors (and a family friend) smashed 40 in 8 overs. That was fun to watch from the other end... although he almost filled me in with a big lofted straight drive. In the end we got 6/167 from our 40 overs, I carried my bat and ended with 57no. I had a well earned rest after all the sprinting I'd done pushing for every single run. I'm actually still saw from it today. So then we took to the field. They got off to a good start despite some good bowling. Then two great catches from our captain helped to slow their run rate. They were cruising until our leg-spinner came on and they just got absolutely sucked in. Every time they played across the line it went straight up in the air. It came down to them needing 25 off the last 6 overs with 4 wickets in hand, then our strike bowlers came back on. Jack came on and bowled the one guy who had batted well, then bowled another guy in his next over. Then a great runout and they needed 7 runs off the last over with 1 wicket in hand. They could no longer afford to tip and run. A single, a dot, a WIDE, a single... we were all getting nervous. A dot. A dot. One ball to go, 4 runs needed. EVERYONE BACK!! A dot to finish and we won by 3 runs. That makes us 4th on the ladder, close to 3rd but 5th is still right on our tail. Another 3 games before finals I think. It's gone so fast, 'cos we've had a lot of wash-outs. It'll be sunny all week and then rain on Friday night or Saturday. It's one of those things which always happens in cricket season.

It's still a few months before we start in England, and the teams preparations are going well.
This year i'll be playing Under16 on a Friday night, 20:20, always a good laugh and great to play.
Hopefully I'll play regular 4th team, maybe a couple of third team games on a saturday, 50 overs per side, losing draws and all that.
On sunday, it's one day time. 45 overs each, win lose or tie, 9 overs per bowler and a fielding circle. this is much more relaxed than a saturday, and i should be playing under19 (2nd team).
Our first team got promoted last year, and are in a very strong league, with local derbies echoing that of 10 years ago. the priority will be to stay up, and hopefully guarantee that early, so we can go up for mid table.
The first weekend of May it all kicks off.
