Latvala wins, with Hirvonen second. Loeb third, Petter Solberg fourth (;D) and EVGENY NOVIKOV in fifth.

No team orders, so Latvala takes his second ever career win in the WRC. A good result for him considering his demoralising results in the past few rallies. Hirvonen second gives Ford a vital 1-2 to keep the manufacturers title hunt alive. Loeb is third, subject to final onboard footage checks by the FIA to make sure he didn't break any rules while changing the tyre. In PWRC, Subaru driver Nasser Al-Attiyah grabs the lead from RedBull Fabia S2000 driver Patrik Sandell on the very last stage, winning by just 1.1 seconds!

EVGENY NOVIKOV in fifth. Yeah, good result for the young fella. Must be down to his Aussie co-driver Dale Moscat... ;D Nah seriously, we've seen previously he has potential and can be pretty quick on some stages, but was prone to crashing. Great result.

Loeb has been given a two-minute time penalty due to Daniel Elena unfastening his safety belts before the car came to a complete stop. This means that Petter Solberg takes third and Loeb drops to fourth, and this does not affect the manufacturers table

I bet if it was someone else unfastening his seatbelts early they would've been disqualified from the rally..

I don't know, it seems that the FIA tend to have favorites in the championships they govern. I could be wrong though..

I think for sure that was the case in F1 but haven't seen any evidence of it in the WRC. For a time the FIA stood for:
Ferrari's Instant Assistance
Because they always seemed to favour Ferrari when involved in stewards cases (look to the 2008 Belgian Grand Prix)

I bet if it was someone else unfastening his seatbelts early they would've been disqualified from the rally.. Funny you should say that, I remember when a similar situation occured in Japan in 2006. www.rallye-info.com/article.asp?sid=0&stid=5620Main difference was that Sordo and Marti didn't do their belts up properly after returning to the stage, thus driving at competition speeds without being properly restrained. I think Loeb's penalty was fair given this example. The FIA don't favour any specific team, (they've put the whole sport at a disadvantage remember? ) it depends on who you follow and what you believe.

Pity Latvala didn't beat his rivals with outright speed, but at least this reminds us that it is rallying and there's still an element of luck.
2min penalty was the right decision. Elena undid his belts as they slowed down. The penalty means they lost the place they would have made up and it will discourage others from doing it in the future (penalty fits the crime for a change). It would have been unfair on them to be disqualified and therefore finish behind Ogier and Henning who binned their cars on day 2.
Great for Petter Solberg who struggled with his car continually going into safe mode on Leg 1. I hope they fix that problem, 'cos he's starting to look pretty quick!

Does this result silence the people who were calling for JML to be replaced by Henning or even Wilson?
Wilson, seriously still equals dud. Such a disappointment. Almost as disappointing as not having Gigi Galli on his home rally.
