Viv, am I the only one who can't believe that it's nearly a year since your trip to Rally Sardinia!? That has FLOWN by! Yeah mate, I can't believe it either! Means my birthday must be just around the corner too. I almost convinced myself to go to Rally Finland. But it's hard to justify $2k just to get there and back for 4 days of rallying. Rally Oz will be ace... that's only 2000km away!

Australia is such a mad country! The national event is 2000KM away! I just can't get my head around it! Seems Petter maybe looking to move into a 307 and Citroen are being a bit tight and worried about giving a 2006 Xsara to someone with talent!

As if Citroen could afford to lose face if heaven forbid the podium didn't consist of Sebastien Loeb and/or Dani Sordo.
Petter might as well jump into an old Escort WRC if his best option is a 307.

Petter should jump in a Proton Neo S2000 and whip the pants off all the PWRC lads. That would be better for his prospects next season.

Petter got the 2006 spec Xsara to Sardinia and confirmed that he was ready to find a new car(example that 307WRC) IF he wouldnt had got it. Still he said that if the car wont be competitive enough,he will look the new car for Greece.
Also Petter said that he wants to the factory team for the next season and confirmed that he was speaking for a factory seat for this year what he finally didnt got. He also "spiked" Hirvonen and Latvala.
(translate for Finnish pages)
"For the people at Ford it must be heavy to lose all the time for Citroën. Its quite a sure thing that I could have helped Ford at the fight against Loeb."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For me it sounds like something has gone over at Petter. Suddenly he thinks to be the best once more who can get anything. I guess Petter should come down for the clouds and be realistic.
Nick McRae still have a point.... as Ive said earlier Xsara is still very effective and Im sure it would be a rocket with the factory spec programs in the hands of Petter example. Petter has done a great job and it certainly dont look good for Citroen if Petter will start to beat up Sordo in an old Xsara!! It also dont sound too cool because "Sordo´s job- is to sell Citroen´s at Spain and get great sponsors too." Also Citroen is still trying to sell the C4´s,not Xsara´s what havent been produced for years as a road car!!!
Anyway we will see how it goes!

He's not wrong in saying he's got a heap more experience than the two Ford pilots. Sure Hirvonen and Latvala have the speed, but Petter has a calmer head on his shoulders than Latvala and I'd wager he's probably quicker than Hirvonen in raw pace. Saying that, it does make sense that Ford kept their current drivers instead of making a dive for Petter - consistency is always good, and believing in your young drivers can be a world of confidence. Then again, Petter could have just as easily ended up in the Stobart stable and their gaggle of drivers.
He wouldn't be a rally driver if he didn't think he's god's gift to driving.

Markko Märtin has been invited by Ford to test their car for the Rally Sardinia. He accepted the offer immediately. Might we see him back in WRC?

I'd love to see him back. I think the Subaru Test Driver role got him bitten by the bug again!
