Following Latvala's performances, PG should be shouting and jumping up and down to get Malcolm Wilson's attention. If Petter gets another podium in Portugal as well, that will make things interesting.

Novikov was good value in Cyprus. Ogier had a shocker! They were both entertaining to watch. At least they were having a crack!
Despite a roll, a detour, a few overshoots and a couple of spins, Ogier was still running ahead of Wilson. Wilson is not a bad driver, he's just slow and conservative, like Rautenbach. Given the choice, I would watch Ogier any day of the week, 'cos he has a crack and gives it everything.
Same with Latvala. He doesn't have the experience to drive as fast as Loeb, but it doesn't stop him trying! The WRC doesn't need another consistent point-scorer. The WRC needs a Latvala or an Atkinson or a Galli or a Duval.
The WRC also needs a Petter Solberg, and wow, what a rally for him! We knew the roads would suit him and Phil. They made the most of it! I hope we see more of them.

I have to say, for an event I didn't previously like, Cyprus sure put on a great rally! It's just a shame more drivers didn't get there. Imagine if it had a full list with Loeb, Sordo, Hirvonen, Latvala, Atkinson, Petter, Galli, PG, Meeke, Duval, etc. That would have been awesome!
The format was good. Watching Loeb driving on gravel tyres on tarmac was absolutely stunning. I loved it!
See what happens when you lose the sprint stages and focus on longer ones? Much better.
The TV coverage was very good. Credit where it's due... I really enjoyed watching the event. It had a sense of length to it. They spent a lot longer on each stage, which is far more interesting to watch. Latvala lifting his car out of the ditch was funny, as was Ogier's barrel-roll.
Great event. And it kills me that after watching such great driving in difficult conditions, someone will come along and discredit the whole thing by whinging about Loeb's dominance.

Have to agree with what Viv said, maybe an earlier slot in the year was what the rally needed, never to mention the mixed surface event! I started this thread whinging about the event, I now can't wait until the next one and hope more rallies adopted a mixed surface stance in the future.
