yeah its actually a 4 way battle. 3 ex. F1 drivers and 1 current driver. The names Im meaning at are Räikkönen,Häkkinen,Salo and Lehto . JJ Lehto is actually the best of those 4. At earlier years when hes been up,hes been even on top10 at Finnish gr.N . Also will be interesting to see how ex."WRC" drivers will do in equal machinery. At last years them hasnt been quite there with the gr.N cars . The list of those are Välimäki,Tuohino,Sohlberg,Katajamäki and a guy whos returning from his retirement Jarmo Kytölehto

yeah no last entry for Bosse. I dont know has the final results been at wrc.com but if someone is interested here them are by national series. JJ was the best F1 driver by ending up 9th overall. There were quite a lot of drama so final results doesnt kinda show all what were going on. I still say that Räikkönen with the Punto done great job. He example beaten up all the 2wd cars and those guys are young coming drivers and has driven years already! BTW Solowow would have been best placed S2000 without probs. What happened to Sohlberg, isn't he usually up the pointy end? Kimi smoked Hakkinen! Very nice drive by Kimi. I wonder if he has caught the rally bug now.

Sohlberg was running in 5th before he retired at SS5 and got +10 minutes as he lost 2 stages and continued by the SupeRally. With pure driving he could have been still only at 5th spot. There are results stage by stage (national) www.lapdatasystem.com/tun09/results_lk1_all.htmlYeah Räikkönen enjoyed a lot about the driving and he really wants to do more rallyes at the future. Also many were impressed by the speed but specially due to fact he didnt maken too many errors and had a clean rally. Ok Räikkönen´s aint totally off the rally sceme as Rami Räikkönen with Honda Civic Type R (N2) were one of the quickest guys on the class some years back.

Raikkonen had yet another go in the Abarth this time in the Vaakuna-Ralli. He got as high as 7th on SS5 but went off the road
Here's an extract of an interview with him, by the sounds of things, he's got the rally bug:
Interviewer: Kimi Raikkonen, it's hard to swipe the smile from your face, what kind of day did you have?
KR: Pretty nice altough we hit the snowdrift at the second last section, and badly after that, I mean it slowed my time by 7 minutes but other than that I had a fun time.
I: So you had to do shovel work?
KR: Fortunately not, because we had such great audience. The place we drove off was good and we got help at getting the car out of the ditch.. of course it would have been nice to come to the finish without problems but my own little mistake paid.
I: What kind of situation it was? Did Kaj drop from the notes?
KR: (laughing) No no no, it was my own mistake.. I drove too fast.. but great roads and I had fun nevertheless, so no complaints.
I: Now you drove your second race of rally, how much has a rally bug bitten you?
KR: Well I have always wanted to try it, and why not now, I have nothing else better to do. It's nice to drive a little and this being a different kind of racing so it always educates you and I bet if there's more time I'll drive more.
I: Are we going to see you this season in a (gravel) rally race?
KR: Well like I said, it's hard to say right now but let's see how I have time and I think I'll drive when there's time and nothing else.. just for the practise it's nice
I: Last question, season 2009 in F1 is around the corner, how does the new Ferrari feel and what kind of goals do you have for the season?
KR: Well pretty nice of course, but the car will change a lot before the first race.. we will try to win and we won't try anything else than that. we will see that on the first race what kind of package everybody has but I think we should have a competitive car.
I: so you don't think you'll need Kaj Lindström next to you in F1?? (laughing)
KR: (laughs) no I think it's more learning by heart, so I think I'll get along alone.

I can't wait for the announcement "I'm going to leave the Formula 1 World Championship to concentrate on the Finnish Rally Championship."
Now that he's quit drinking to focus on his 09 championship, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more outings from him this year in a rally car instead.

He's quit drinking? Why change a winning formula? One of the best Raikkonen moments was when he stacked in Monaco, he walked straight over to his boat and cracked open a beer with his mates.

but still yeah its kinda nice that hes stopping to drink but still I dont always understand why them should be so clean. At the 80´s half of the drivers were drinking and smoking cigs at the bars and free drivers didnt had trouble to find the girls to talk to.
Anyway Räikkönen´s drive was quite cool to me in a Punto. He was doing superb times and was able to keep up with the rally drivers whos been doing this roads and conditions for years! 10/10 for him for the last outing and I hope to see more.
ps. Viv-offtopic... Is the Melbourne F1 track area really looking like from the mad max movies? when I saw the shot I was so shocked. Just ask because Im not sure how close you were to Albert Park.

I can answer this because I go running there just about every week.
I'm not sure how Albert Park looked like in Mad Max but it's an amazing sight to see it post-F1. Take a look at Google Maps under street view to take a tour of the track once all the F1 stuff has been packed away. I'd take photos but they're already putting the F1 stuff together.
