As in Kimi Raikkonen, the F1 driver. This could be interesting. With F1 in the state it is in, maybe he'll switch to this sport.

I had thought of going to this one... maybe next year. Just can't justify it if Atko wont be there. I will love watching it on TV though... Finland is usually the best rally of the season. Who's going? You lot in Europe should have no excuses.

Is not having a passport a good enough excuse?

Hardly. The distance between London and Helsinki is only 200km further than the distance I'm travelling to Rally Australia. Where is this man?

Janne Tuohino is a name I'd forgotten as well. He's driving a Group N car unfortunately.
Mikko, any info on the Finnish A8 entries?

That's what Mikko said to me too ;D Where is this man? I'm sure I read somewhere he's looking at S2000 for next year?

I thought I had read it somewhere, this site says it was from Motorsport News! "Gigi Galli has tested an Abarth Punto S2000 on gravel recently in Italy and is looking at making a return to the sport next year, according to Motorsport News. Galli has only competed on the Bettaga Memorial Rallysprint last December since breaking his leg after an horrific accident in Germany 2008. Speaking at Rally Italy, Galli said: I'm looking forward to things for next year to decide what direction to follow. I did a test in an Abarth on gravel and I hope I can find a way to get some more testing in order to prepare a programme for the Fiesta [Super 2000]. Galli states that he is a fan of S2000, particularly if it attracted new manufacturers to the WRC: You have to be more aggressive with the car, so it can be more sideways, which is good for all of us. It's important that we have more people in the sport because it's becoming a little boring now. Galli is planning to recce some events later this year but only once the FIA WMSC has confirmed the calendar for 2010 when it meets on June 24." www.rallybuzz.com/galli-abarth-test/

yup, thats what I heard to Galli aswell.. Lets see what will happen but yeah Ive always liked about Gigi´s style to handle the car. Its agressive and great to watch so I wish all the best ps. Also remember Fabrizio De Sanctis... ok his not fast but I think his the world record holder already. Only WRC event he has done for many years is Rally Finland! His been here each year since 1986 and still goes on with his typical yellow-green Lancer Evo But Here are some info for local A8 entries: Arolainen (Ford 05): Will drive the Rally Finland with the same car as last year, the ex.Mikkelsen Ramsport Focus WRC05. Co-Driver is Risto Pietiläinen but the guy truly aint that fast. Last year he was slightly quicker and in some stages lost to quickest Gr.N runners. Not a potential point scorer, more like driving for fun. Ketomäki(Octavia): Once at his career was a very promising driver but last years has been far from superb. He cannot match the gr.N front runners no more and is more like driving for fun. Its always nice to see an Octavia at the rally but if the old numbers will be true, the car will broke before the end of day1. Just driving for fun too. Ketomaa(Subaru): A leader of the Finnish national series where only gr.N and S2000´s are permitted for use. Ketomaa has been a really great guy the last years. Also Neste Rally has always suited him some years already. Has lead most of the Neste Rallyes in gr.N category while all the best ones has been there. I expect him to be quick if the car will be quite a new one. No news about the car from what year it will be. Therman(Munchis) : His family kept to own a really big brewer company. YOu can forget this guy already. His there only driving because of money. Expept to be slowest of the WRC machine users. Rantanen(Munchis): Is one of the rising stars of Finland and is expected to get something going. Really good drive last year with the Focus WRC06. Can he hold the pressure and show some great times or will he fail is an another story. One of the top runners when was driving at the Finnish national championship. I think this year has gone at the BRC BTW what comes to Tuohino his still doing the Finnish national champ but in rallyes has only got a few times to top5. His best days has been off a few years already. Katajamäki who aint in the event can get to top5 in events but is just like Tuohino. Never capable of getting back to WRC.

Rantanen is in the BRC in a Clio if I remember correctly. Ends in the hedges more often than not!

yup, seems to be driving the Clio Ragnotti at BRC what is far from beeing the S1600 car. Didnt he won the 2wd category at Jim Clark Rally? I was reading about it from somewhere that he would have won the 2wd category at his first ever tarmac outing. Anyway the rest yes, havent gone as planned

Not sure if he won the BRC class, I'd have to check that out! I really should follow the BRC more, I just have little interest in Gp N championships!
Petter is keeping his Xsara for Finland, he'd tested numerous cars in a bid to be able to bring the fight to the big boys on the faster rallies. A back to back test with the Xsara and 307 resulted in him sticking with the Xsara. He was considering not entering the event because of the cars lack of speed on fast events but as he's entering I hope he gets a good result for his cause. Some fo the faster cars are bound to fall off the Finnish roads...

yup, Petter is looking also some kind of engine upgrade if anyhow possible. He has been offered the C4 aswell but the price is so high that the Citroen thinks he wont take the same package what the Citroen Junior Team is using on C4. You can see Petter´s test with Xsara and 307WRC to youtube. Direct link to video can be founded for one French WRC fansite . I also think that Petter made the right decision with the Xsara.

Ya, that site. Interesting test video actually, Petter was certainly pushing hard, notice how both the Xsara and 307 lose their rear bumpers.
