Off to NASCAR that is! He wants to "get back to racing" and quite frankly who can blame him for moving? I for one hope he has a successful career in NASCAR!

I don't blame him at all, nobody in F1 wanted him. I'm not overly distraught at the news, but it's refreshing to see him accept his F1 days are finished and he's gracefully moving onto something else rather than desperately trying to find a seat. Good luck to him, I'm sure the US will enjoy having their man back. Oh well, that's one less signature that I'll look for at the Australian GP next year

I am not surprised to move out for back to states. There people still love him as ex.Indy champs are always remembered. Still I am a little bit shocked to move for NASCAR as I thought Indy would have been the one to go.
Montoya didnt wanted to continue in F1 at the car what is a midfield team.Drivers always want to win and he decided to go for the team he knows and I just believe Ganassi didnt had a space in Indy so them taked him to NASCAR and also if US media is right the contract also has a possibility to drive on Sportscar races example at Daytona 24H.

Plus Montoya said he didn't enjoy the racing in F1, surprise surprise due to the lack of overtaking.

Do be honest I'm sure everyone can see his point about Overtaking. I mean if he wants to do a lap of something without overtaking then he could do it in a road car and not risk his life! I really hope he has a successful time in NASCAR - his bullish characteristic was something I enjoyed watching in F1. Now there's getting even less reason to watch F1...

But F1 surely will not be happy to have an F1 star say, "OK, I really really really want to go to NASCAR, I'm sick of F1." They HAVE to respond, fix it already FIA! Grrr

Me too - when they asked me to put in 50 words why I wanted it I put "So I can organise my way to the WRC!" Whoops... ;D

Hahaha, I just gave some suck up response that effectively said "You guys are fantastic, keep up the good work"

Montoya has been released from his McLaren contract with immediate effect. Pedro de la Rosa will replace him for the remander of the season.
