It hasn't been confirmed as I understand it, some Spanish news thing reported it. But I would not be at all surprised if this does happen

It's on BBC news with a statement from Ron Dennis as well. So I think it's confirmed now.

is Pedro the teams test driver or have they just got someone cheap in to fill the space?

This will ultimately shift the driver market a bit. If Pedro goes well for the rest of the season, then Lewis Hamilton would have to find a seat elsewhere as McLaren WANT him to race, even for a rival team. Which if this is the case, Lewis Hamilton will move to MF1 and Mercedes will supply MF1 with Mercedes engines. Plus Christijan Albers has a history with Mercedes in DTM, I can dream can't I?

I'd have preferred Gary Paffett, but he's still very inexperienced.
I think Pedro's already driven for Arrows and Jaguar so is the sensible choice. Good luck to him.

If Kimi leaves McLaren as well - we could have a de la Rosa/Hamilton McLaren team!

Pedro raced last year to replace JPM after his now infamous tennis incident, and he damn well near finished on the podium in Bahrain had his overtaking skills been better. As for a de la Rosa/Hamilton McLaren team, it won't happen because Fernando Alonso is in their way Which is why I made up that crazy idea of mine of Hamilton going to MF1 so they can get Mercedes engines. Damn, the shifts in the driver market seem to be more interesting than the actual racing itself

Oops! My biggie there! Completely forgot about Alonso! I don't think Hamilton would go to MF1 McLaren may have him do GP2 for another year if Pedro is to become the second team member - I think it's a bit early to let Hamilton jump in the hot seat - we don't want another Button over here...

Ron Dennis has made it clear that he wants Hamilton to race in 2007, even if that means with another team. I think Hamilton is competent enough to earn a seat for 2007 if his GP2 performances are a guide.

Ah I hadn't heard about Ron wanting lewis to race in 2007 - your MF1 idea is entirely possible then!

2007 should be Raikkonen/Alonso with Paffett as a test driver. Dennis is smart, he'll "loan" Hamilton out to a smaller team for a few years, similar to when williams let Button go to BAR. problem was, Button liked it too much at BAR (now Honda) didn't go back and made the wrong choice.

Those NASCAR boys certainly don't hang about! Here's an article from BBC Sport Website
"Juan Pablo Montoya could make an early debut in Nascar racing after his move from the McLaren Formula One team. He is being lined up to compete in Nascar's second-tier Busch Series next month after being released by McLaren.
"We hope we can get something going on by the middle of August," said Ganassi team boss Chip Ganassi.
"When we get the details of his release we will be all over every chance we get to put him in good cars in circuits he needs to see."
Montoya is expected to learn the basis of stock car racing in the Busch Series, before stepping up to the senior Nextel Cup, and admitted he would have to bide his time and not disturb the team's existing set-up.
"It's a new world for me, and they know it and I don't," he said.
"You cannot damage their programmes for this year because I got released a little early." "
