i was speaking to a friend earlier and he told me that their used to be a rally in south africa apparently it was very hard and got cut out of the calender because it was expensive to get their and to stay their. plus with the money they saved from it they were able to introduce 2 new rallies to the calender does any one have anymore information on the rally?

My WRC book says the last Safari Rally was held in 2002. Financing was the main probelm it got cut out, but I also heard they did it for safety reasons. This site may be of good use==> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Safari_Rally The Safari Rally was one of the most toughest and exciting rallies of all in the WRC.

Its a shame it was took off the calendar.
The aerial views from the helicopters looked excellent. The rally was in a league of its own.

rally kenya was what got me into rally! the sight of McRaes focuse over the african plains-fantastic, the whole endurance aspect and not always flat out, having to look after the car etc. were what I liked about it, these aspects are all but lost in the WRC now
