Colin McRae's concept R4 rally car made its debut this week. The reviews were mixed to say the least. A lot of people comparing it to a VW beetle. Still curious on how its going to pan out as its purpose was to be a budget rally car. But it costs about 140,000 pounds and has a 340hp engine. Thats more than a WRC car.

How the hell will that "thing" do something like Wales GB?
Besides, the only budget it's made for is Matthew Wilson's....

I think you mean Anthony Warmbold's. Wilson has my respect as he has gotten into the WRC the right way. Though his dad is a high level Ford person he is stil paying his dues.

Though his dad is a high level Ford person he is stil paying his dues. There's a crazy amount of better talent in the rallying world that Ford are keeping their eyes shut to. I mean I think even James would be better than him and that's no exaggeration

From what I read its supposed to be for privateers for the local rallies. I could be wrong. All I am saying is that I think the car needs to be toned down quite a bit for it to be more appealing. Overall I like the idea I just think it needs to be adjusted a bit.

It doesn't look like your average rally car. It looks more like a circuit racer. I really can't imagine McRae selling many of these unless they are rich fans of Colin. 140,000 pounds is way too expensive for a local rally car. Unless the WRC rules have changed, am I right in saying the WRC requires a certain amount of road versions of the car to stop people building one offs such as this? I only remember because Lancia built the Stratos purposly for rallying as well as all the road versions of the car as well. My guess is McRae hasn't got so many 100s of this car in road versions, so unless the WRC rule has changed I can't imagine this ever entering the WRC.
Where has the engine in the car come from?

Unusual looking to say the least! I'd like to know how many he sells at that price, and just how much marketing will be done on this car too?
