No! It's sad when someone dies during a rally, but when it's a child, it's ever the more heart-wrenching. My thoughts are with his friends and family especially

The final stage in Dakar was not timed to respect the tragic loss of life. Andy Caldecott and now these two boys. Very sad for the Dakar Rally.

It is indeed. On face value it is a wonderful rally and is great for the countries that support it..Africa etc. But it is, in essence such a gruelling and painful endurance test, and it takes away a little piece of all it's contestants-it's harsh. Motorsport is dangerous at the best of times, as we understand, but the recent tragic events of the Dakar highlight that, and you cant help but feel saddened by by it. It also makes you stop and remember those past competitors who also met their fate on Dakar-it's so tough.
