This is a drastic change for the Australian Rally Championship which has traditionally been a fight between Subaru and Mitsubishi. As Mitsubishi's commitment is flakey and Subaru have pulled out, this move is very interesting. As ARC is a precursor for BRC and WRC, this is obviously a trial of S2000. And if it goes well, it wont be long before we have S2000 in the WRC. rally.com.au/Toyota and Ford will build S2000 cars for the series. They will compete directly against Group N and maybe this will encourage VW to join the ARC as well. It all bodes well for ARC which is in a transition period. The risk is that S2000 will nullify the latest insurgence of privateers. I hope S2000 will be comparative so we dont lose the competition.

That's a pretty good move I think, S2000 is promoted as being a cost-effective formula so costs should hardly be taxing for privateers hopefully. The ARC really needs more manufacturers because there is a plethora of talented drivers out there and no vacant factory seats.
But I hope that S2000 does not replace the WRC formula, it should be a feeder category for up and coming drivers and manufacturers, like what GP2 is to F1

its going to be good to follow the ARC as most of the big championships will be watching closely and if it is a success then who knows what may happen in other championships
