Hello! This rally is going up its final day just right now. There are nice names driving with N group and JWRC cars but unfortunately some has needed to retire. Sainz and Alen was also given entry for this last year but them decided to pull out. Still some good names like Auriol,Carlsson,Hirvonen,Kankkunen,Katajamäki and Sordo and some top Portugal drivers gived a go. All top drivers are driving with N group Subarus or with Mitsubishi´s. Sordo and Katajamäki was with JWRC car. Some info: www.acp.pt/index.php?template_id=5184and some results results you are able to follow to www.rallydeportugal.pt/Mixa(Mikko)

Curt,I think its the round of Portugal rally championship but also an event where every year has been invited the top drivers to drive. Every year since Portugal was dropped to calendar them has tried to get FIA confident for that the event would be nice in world rally championship and this year them get more big names to drive than other years.
I think Portugal should get back as top drivers who has been driven as invited in this events like Grönholm,Paasonen,A.McRae in other years and now Kankkunen and Auriol has said the routes are really nice and would well be in at WRC calendar. Still every year FIA hasnt give a go for comeback.

Agree with Mixa. This a very good event and the people overthere, they are so passionate for rally. Safety problems? Yes, but not bigger than any other South European event. I should change Portugal to Cyprus any day. Why cannot it happen? Not enough bribes to FIA officials??

Yeah Snowman! I agree with your post. I am sure Portugal will not be in WRC as some Jordania is also wanting to WRC and I am sure one more dusty rally will be in calendar next year as Jordania is a middle east rally and them isnt in WRC calendar yet+ F1 and other motorsports are already headed for there. INSANE!!
Also China is looking a place but I am not sure will them get a place. Them had event in 90: s but dont know will them get back.
So I think Jordania will get that place instead of Portugal what is the best option for all those 3.
