I cannot wait neither but to me Dakar has lost a bit of its value. It just isnt the same race it kept to be when it was run in Africa but I still love it. It will be interesting to see who will take this one but I think it will be the battle between the German manufacturers, Volkswagen and BMW . BMW has a really strong squad now and those roads should suit them really well. Even Mitsubishi is there but as a privateer packed team. Im sure the Racing LancerĀ“s will surprise on some stages specially by Sousa and Barbosa but we will see. If I should predict the top3 I would say Peterhansel wins, Al Attiyah is 2nd and Sainz will be 3rd.
On bikes I hope a win for Despres and the trucks should go surely for Kamaz as others wont be taking part except Loprais who is pretty much the only one who could stop the Kamaz team.
Also Africa Race is running already partly on the old roads of the Dakar race. Still even this year is partly a flop. The organisers once again expected bigger entry list but hardly got one. Schlesser buggies 1-2 at the moment.
Schlesser aint still taking part to Dakar. Reason is as for so many: buggies have no change on getting top results on the South American Dakar. Its also one of the many reasons why many of the old top buggy drivers dont take part no more to the South American Dakar. The best placed buggies should be Henrard and Kahle but them will be probably just inside of top10 if there will be many breakdowns. Otherwise-NO CHANGE.

Yeah my predictions didnt quite gone right but Sainz on top to me was a small surprise. I know that his fast on stages like this but expected him to make a small mistake on the desert stages. That didnt happened. To me BMW proven to be atleast as quick as VW but Peterhansel done some heavy mistakes and even the car wasnt as reliable as I thought it would be. Nice Dakar anyway!
On Bikes Despres was on the level of his own. Okey the local boy and Coma were only the ones to challenge but when Coma hitted to problems the way was open for Cyril. A great win would say!
On trucks, there was no questions even before the rally who would take it. Kamaz dominance during the rally was huge. No one else didnt even stood a change.
By this year I would say that the route was better than I expected BUT man, by me the rally would run even at UAE ahead of this South American Dakar. The route is just too much WRC style ones and going from pre selected route from A to point B. I really love Dakar still but for me the navigation has lost its meaning....
