Rob's mention of the Fratelli's has got me thinking about how far British music "gets about". How many British bands of you people heard that have come from Britain? I'll be honest most the music I listen to is from the UK or the US. Although the Rasmus are from Finland and Jet are from Sunny Oz! Any other bands to look out for around the world? *I'm very much a rock/indie fan so if you giving me bands to listen to I wouldn't bother if it's r and b/rap

I'm pretty much the same, I like a lot of indie rock. The Fratellis are my most recent find, before that I started to really get into bands like Arctic Monkeys, The Automatic, The Wombats, The Horrors, etc. I'm liking some older stuff as well like Joy Division and even The Beatles and John Lennon's solo stuff. The Strokes are pretty mad as well, I can't wait to get their new album if and whenever it comes out. Also I'm going to go out on a limb here and officially declare car/motorsport sounds as a genre of music. I have a CD dedicated to various motorsport clips, from a screaming V12 F1 engine, Richard Burns driving a stage in 2002 Catalunya, onboard a Porsche 997 cup car, a DBR9 around Spa, you name it I've got it! I tend to move songs in-and-out of my iPod because it's only a 512MB shuffle because I'm stubborn and cheap. Also I'm stuck with playing CDs in my car because I don't have an MP3 connector. I actually bought one before I even got my car anticipating it, but I can't be bothered taking apart part of my dashboard and the radio to connect it. I've learned to live with it and hope my next car has MP3

Richard Burns driving a stage in 2002 Catalunya Great onboard that one. ;D Also I'm going to go out on a limb here and officially declare car/motorsport sounds as a genre of music. Hell yes! That's one of the reasons why I enjoy rallying, is the sound of the cars. The turbocharged WRC cars are always unique in the sound they make. You can tell the difference between a Focus and a C4, a Subaru and a Suzuki, or a Peugeot and a Mitsubishi. I just recently looked at some video from the 2009 North West Stages on YouTube at Tony Bardy's Nissan Sunny (Pulsar) GTi-R... that thing sounds absolutely fantastic. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrVx9Q91ssMI dunno, but there is something about a 2.0 L turbo charged engine, with anti-lag and sequential gearbox and a committed driver that is just unparalleled in any other form of motorsport on this planet. When I'm not listening to the awesome sounds of rally cars, my favourite genre of music is rather picky. Generally its techno-electronic type tracks, but has to be instrumental, no singing or lyrics. Great to listen to when your slaving away with uni work, or on an epic drive along some tarmac stages. Mind you, I don't mind most music except R&B and country.

Then I'm the opposite I'm into dance / harddance music and I don't listen to rock/indie. But I don't mind hearing other styles of music.

My main love in music is indie/rock. Mixed in with a bit of drum and bass and some dance tunes and that sums up my biggest liking. Although, there's a stupid amount of cheesey pop on my iPod from childhood times Big Bad Cheese at the SU on Saturdays doesnt help either! Like most of the main chart stuff atm, even the RnB kind of stuff I never used to like. Also into unsigned bands - founds some crackers over the time but the best (and probably because im slightly biased as i went to school with these guys) is the Capulets - www.myspace.com/wearecapulets. LOVE THEM! My playlist at the moment goes something like; Arctic Monkeys, Athlete, Capulets, Editors, Fratellis, Kings of Leon, Jason Mraz, Pendulum, Faithless, Shinedown, Snow Patrol, Pigeon Detectives Oh, and Friendly Fires!

Can't say that I've gone on the Kings of Leon bandwagon, they've been going absolutely bombing down here the last several months - I only really like one song, Revelry. Faithless rings a bell, it took me about 8 years but I finally got a hold of a clean version of the music they made for the WRC 1 game
