Petter Solberg announced on his website that he will drive a Citroën Xsara WRC 2006 on rally Norway. Although he stated earlier that he didn't buy a Xsara as rumours were going around, he'll now drive the car anyway.
More details will follow in a press conference before the start of the rally.

That will make the tipping interesting... where on earth will he finish as a privateer in a Xsara?

That will make the tipping interesting... where on earth will he finish as a privateer in a Xsara? In a snow bank. We all know how excited he can get!

Surely the Xsara can't match up to the new C4 and Focus'...
or can it

Yeah Petter´s car is probably the latest evo of Xsara´s and lastly used by C.Rautenbach . Also what Ive been reading Petter will run his own team but dont know will it last a whole season and the car will probably change to C4 at some point.
Xsara WRC is still a great car. At C4 when it started a lot of things were taken to the Xsara and as I posted the stage comparision the cars doesnt go much forward no more in years. The manufacturers just makes it to look like it as it doesnt look good if the privateers or older cars anyway could beat up the latest factory cars. The factory programmed(Same programs them used to run in 05-06 Kronos for Loeb) and handled Xsara could be quite equal with the C4 WRC I think.

Citroën could surely lose their face if the C4's are slower than Petter Solberg's Xsara. I'd like to see that! François Duval almost did it in Germany 2007 with his OMV Kronos Citroën Xsara WRC, at least if it wasn't for his spin...

Feb 6 from 1100 to 1200 P. Solberg will be presenting the new Petter Solberg World Rally Team. Pretty sure that MSN will be the main sponsor. If you look at the driver list for Norway Rally you will see MSN listed for Petter. Any way, a joke here in the US is that any car that is sponsored by MSN has an advantage: If the car crashes, all what the driver needs to do is to open the door and close it again, thus succesfully rebooting the car. But seriously, tipping for Norway Rally is posing some difficulties for me.

Yeah and Duval was complaining at the rallyes after that how suddenly at the next event his Xsara was way slower and lacking of power. Also as I posted the links last year C4 isnt really that magical and cars doesnt really take too big steps in years, the manufacturers just makes it to look for that . Im still shocked to see that Petter fans wasnt here posting the shots about the car right away. I catched the shots almost right away from one French site what I always keep to check. Quess my first reaction? It was the hmm, that livery reminds me a bit too much about Dodd´s Hyundai Accent WRC by colours and style but its ok but still could be better . Im still extra happy to see a Xsara on stages! I really hope that Petter does well with it. Also Petter have a few advantages what he gets as a privateer what are banned from manufacturer cars. Will be interesting to see what he can do!

Tippings for Rally Norway 2009 are open now!
Extra question: In what position will Petter Solberg finish (DNF is also a possible answer)?
This tipping round closes on: Thursday February 12th, 07h00 GMT
(sorry a bit late, thought rally Norway was only at the end of this month..)
My tips:
Top 8: 1. M. Hirvonen 2. J. Latvala 3. U. Aava 4. S. Loeb 5. H. Solberg 6. P. Solberg 7. E. Novikov 8. P. Andersson
Scratch: J. Latvala Extra: 6th
