I think there will be a large number of private "secondary" teams that will enter the WRC. Teams such as Bozian, Grifone, Astra as examples, could outnumber the manufacturer teams, such is the case in the IRC at the moment. I don't see a problem there ;D The more cars, the better! Yeah that's right, I don't have a problem with that either. If more seats are to be provided at WRC level, it is vital that secondary teams are there to make the numbers. They can't at the moment because of the cost, not even some of the manufacturer teams can.

We are almost at the end of the 2009 silly season. But no silly season is complete, without the addition of the silly rules! ;D FIA have made some changes/amendments to the regulations. The highly technical super-geek version is here. The easier-to-understand version with the important bits is here.

Petter Solberg has been linked to Fiat and to Proton. Original Site: www.vg.no/pub/vgart.hbs?artid=546315Google translation: Bilfabrikken in Malaysia have already been meeting with Norwegian in terms of commitment to rally world cup in 2010. - After that Proton has even confirmed it, yes, I've had a meeting with them. In fact, with the top management of the company, says Solberg told VG. There are only a few days ago he was at the Fiat Group of Italy. Fiat is another beiler against the 2010-season. - There is an additional couple of carmakers that have signed up. The possibilities are truly open for me now, "said Petter Solberg satisfied. He will not say the name of the other bilmerkene. - A nice car There is already talk that Solberg will test Proton satria S 2000 during the winter. - Proton is a nice car. There are many fine parts of it, "said Petter Solberg told VG. If it really is the Malaysian bilfabrikken being Solberg employer in 2010, it will be spectacular. But the economy no rejects nothing: - I'm open to anything at this time. The chief executive of Proton, Datuk Hj Adbul Razak Dawood, admitted to Auto Sport that the goal is to run rally in the World Cup next year. He thinks that Proton may build up its reputation in the same way as Subaru did in the 1990s - and later, Solberg won the World Cup in 2003 for Subaru. The Malaysian bilmerket is not for sale in the U.S. market - and are a very small extent in Europe. Seems like main talk is for 2010, thus leaving much speculation for P. Solberg's plans for 2009.

The new Ford Focus RS WRC 09. The main external changes are the lack of the air vent on the roof of the car and the lack of sponsor Kärcher in the livery.

And it's sporting some mascara. That livery is criminal. Oversized graphics, offensive colour scheme - then again, you are dealing with clients that are more concerned with having their name plastered as big as possible.
Petter Solberg's stated on his blog that he will be driving a 2006-spec Citroen Xsara WRC for Rally Norway - he will announce the deal and his sponsors in a conference within the next couple of days. The car is perhaps a tad obsolete compared to the front runners, but it must be a refreshing change considering the machinery he's had over the last few years.

On that Focus you can also see the con they've had everyone believe alst season, it's not actually the updated comestic version of the Focus. It's still got the old shape headlamps, just with black markings around the edge of the headlights to make it look like it is!

LOL ;D ;D Funny funny I wish Petter all the best of luck for this season, if he is able to secure funding for the full season. As I said before, he has been linked with Fiat and Proton. Proton appears to be interested in having Petter drive the Satria in 2010. I really do like that car, but (and I hate saying this) Petter appears to have lost his edge. Now, I grant you the fact that it could be that he really was disappointed with Subaru and/or Prodrive and his disappointment affected his driving. Atko in the Proton would be interesting. I still hope to see Subaru back in the WRC/S2000 soon... Flip

That would be such a shame, even though his performance in Norway wasn't overwhelming, I still think he has bucket loads of potential and is one to watch for the future. I certainly hope he can find the required backing.

Call me paranoid, or what ever else... but I think that Prodrive is up-to something.
