Also computers...internet in PRISON? Yeah, for the prison staff ... not the prisoners! ;D i was doing a computer maintenance course while inside. i was asked to build a network up for one of the classes, so i did that, but then the tutors were always bringing in USB stciks that were infected, so i got AVG and made sure every day that the tutor was bringing in the new AVG patch, it had to be done to protect everyone's work

It could happen to any webdesigner, that's for sure. I only hope you can find the leaks in the code and secure them for possible future attacks I had Norton 360 last year. The licence expired and I'm glad about it. It uses too much computer resources. I now have ESET NOD32 anti-virus, not free though. (well.. )

It's hard because these viruses attack the weaknesses in the .NET framework. So it's up to the developer to write code which blocks these vulnerabilities. Having said that, it is possible to make very robust sites but you need to integrate security into your thinking early in the design process.
With good input validation on every field, it's possible to stop these attacks, but it's certainly not easy. Curt has sacrificed a little security for the sake of making the forum very usable/flexible. I hope he can get the forum back up and running and protect the site from a similar attack in future.
Don't worry, it's nothing personal. These viruses are indiscriminate in who they target.

No worries Curt, better than having no forum at all. While on the subject of anti-viruses, I have McAfee Internet Security it's brilliant

why not get bits of the site up.. like the news and gallery etc.. stuff where you have to enter things in like the forums and tipping can wait until the bug is fixed?..

We could post news stories on the correct board, but then the forum is going to become hidelously cuttered but then at the same time it also provide a lot of talking points.
But then there are the occasional news stories don't don't really provoke any response, so we could just have empty threads messing up the place!
