I'd better say that i am aware it is May and this event isnt until mid November however the route has been announced
Roger Albert Clark Rally heads “Home”
The 2006 Roger Albert Clark Rally will return to Harrogate in North Yorkshire, one of the RAC Rally’s inspirational start venues for the RAC Rally of years ago. Press Officer Jim Holmes said “This is a very exciting move for us, Harrogate was one of the traditional start venues for the RAC Rally and we are very pleased to be able to take the rally there this year. Who could ever forget the film ‘From Harrogate It Started’ ?” Jim also added “we would like to thank Sheffield City council for the support they have shown the rally in it’s first two years”
The move to Harrogate was prompted by the inclusion this year of the Yorkshire forests. Rally Manager Colin Heppenstall said “It was very sad that the Kall Kwik rally did not attract enough entries to run in February but it has given us an opportunity to not only run that event in November this year but to also take the Roger Albert Clark rally in to the Yorkshire forests for the first time”.
The event will be based from the ‘Yorkshire Event Centre’ at the Great Yorkshire Showground. The format of the event has also changed for 2006 with scrutineering taking place in the Event Centre exhibition halls during the afternoon and evening of Friday 17th November.
The event will start at 08:00 on Saturday the 18th November with the cars doing two stages within the showground before heading into the Dalby complex for six more stages prior to service in Scarborough. Crews will then head out to the now traditional blast around Croft race circuit and onto Greystoke before an overnight halt in Carlisle.
Sunday sees the main event start at 07:00 and head North into the Scottish forests. Seven stages follow in Ae, Castle O’er and Twiglees, to name just three with the rally returning to Carlisle for an earlier than usual finish of 17:00.
Monday morning and the early starts continue with an 06:30 run out of Carlisle to Kershope. Six stages in Keilder totalling over 60 miles are followed by another two runs around Croft before the finish back at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate at 18:30. Overall stage mileage is 200 miles with the road mileage reduced to 675 miles. In order to attract as many entries as possible the organisers have managed to hold the entry fee to the same £1750 as in 2005.
Running with the event on Saturday and Sunday will be two clubman events. The Saturday event will be known as “The KallKwik Rally” and will be based from Scarborough offering competitors 45 stages miles in the Yorkshire Forests for £375. Sundays event will be known as the ‘The Roger Albert Clark Clubmans Rally’ which will also offer 45 Stage miles for £375 based in Carlisle and will run to a similar format to last year using the Scottish and western Kielder stages.
