Was wondering if someone could give me a quick synopsis of the ARC 2006 championship. I was trying to find the standings thus far but the link for 2006 points gives me the 2005 points. So if you have a better link for me that would be marvelous. 2nd question. Is Crocker doing a full season as I don't see him on the points board but see pics of him rallying. Last question; what are the specs of the cars(Focus, Impreza, Lancer, Corolla) Lancer and Impreza Group N I am assuming. Is Focus S2000 or Group N And is Corolla Group N or S2000.
Thanks! It seems like a great championship and I would like to keep up with the goings on. Are there any season DVDs out there?

Here's the details on the ARC for 2006 so far. The first round was held in March in conjunction with the APRC event in Canberra. It was a little confusing for most to sort out the results as there were actually three events running all at the same time. Each round of the ARC is scored over two heats with Heat One on Saturday and Heat Two on Sunday. The overall winner of the rally is the crew with the highest points combined from both heats. There is a bonus point allotted to the crew that won the most number of stages. As you probably know, the APRC is a two day event, so the organisers decided to run the ARC crews behind the APRC registered cars and score them for each day like Heat One and Two but award the outright finishing places on the total time over two days like the APRC! Confused yet!!! To cut a long story short, the ARC was won by Neal Bates (Toyota), followed by Simon Evans(Toyota), Dean Herridge (Subaru) and Scott Pedder (Mitsubishi). Scott Pedder got the bonus point for most number of stage wins. The following link has the current driver standings. www.rally.com.au/data/files/points06/outright_drivers.pdfGot to www.rally.com.au/. It's the official site of the ARC. www.rallysportnews.com.au/index.html is also worth a look too. Cody Crocker is not running in the ARC year as he is doing the APRC. Subaru Australia withdrew from the ARC last year, and Cody was "loaned" to Les Walkden Rallying (LWR) with the intention of doing the ARC in 2006 as he still had a year to go on his contract with Subaru. The ARC organisers (ARCOM) deemed that LWR was a factory backed team and asked them to pay their share of the TV coverage costs. LWR refused and hence they weren't allowed to enter the ARC, so they decided to do the APRC. It's a great shame that Cody isn't in the championship this year. The Lancers and WRX's are full house Group N cars complete with dog boxes. The Corollas run under an Australian formula called Group N (P). It's a prototype formula that allows manufacturers without a homologated Group N car to basically make their own from the spare parts bin of their Company. So the Corolla is converted into 4WD with a GT4 engine and gearbox, but due to parity issues it has been allowed to run the Ralliart active centre diff and a Subaru ball-bearing turbo. Basically Group N (P) was created before S2000 was devised. Toyota has announced its intention to have an S2000 Corolla running by the end of the year. This will then allow them to enter international events, as Group N (P) is only recognised in Australia. The Ford Focus is a strange one! It has been built to Group N (P) regulations but for some unknown reason Ford Australia decided to make it naturally Aspirated and rear wheel drive. It has a 2.5 litre injected engine and a sequential box. The car looks and sounds great but it wasn't anywhere near the pace of the Lancers, Corollas or Subarus. They have a LOT of work to do, and have also announced their intention to go S2000 in the future. The 2005 ARC Season DVD is here. www.chevron.com.au/motorsport/msrally05.html
