This years Isle Of Man TT races resulted in the deaths of 3 riders while their are still a few in serious conditions in various UK hospitals
Japanese rider Jun Maeda has died from injuries sustained in a crash during Monday night's practice for the Isle of Man TT. Maeda was injured on the Ballahutchin Straight and he was later flown to Manchester for specialist treatment.
The driver, Tony Smith of Istead Rise, Kent and passenger Barry Pepperrell of Carshalton Surrey died of injuries received, when they crashed their outfit at Iron Gate on the Billown Course

What an absolute tragedy! Such a shame as there's not much anybody could do to improve the safety either. RIP to the 3 riders; and hopefully the other riders can recover from their injuries

What amazes me is there is 3 or 4 deaths every year on the race, so why isn't cancelled on safety grounds. If we saw that many deaths in F1 or the WRC that event would be struck off the calendar?

well due to the nature of the event it would prob be difficult to improve the standards

Have you seen footage of the Isle of Man TT? It's remarkable that there are only 3-4 deaths each year. It takes a nut-case to ride it and they all know the consequences. The event doesn't pretend to be safe. And it's one of the best events anywhere.

Ive seen on-board cameras of the TT race before and it was shocking to see how fast they were going. I agree with Chris, if that many deaths were in the WRC each year there would be a ban for sure. Is the IOMTT governed by the FIA?

I think Isle of Man isnt the race of FIA and yes as someone said there are 3-6 deaths every year. Also yes the race speed is absolutely insane as in one racing show I saw the footage of 4 riders to onboard cam.
Already down to 2001 it was succested to race up just as the memorial/showdown race without time control but the organisers and many of the riders didnt wanted to give a go for it. Last year the organisers was able to get the tradition to live up as some didnt wanted to see this race anymore. I am sure it will stop soon and these insane deaths will stop.
Isle of Man TT has been a great race with motorbikes and there has been great riders doing it but with these days bikes its insane. Also if you have saw atleast a little bit of footage I think it should need better safety to track side.
