Just thought I would post this in reference to the DTC (Danish Touring Car's) championship. After having some good tests in Monza and Jyllandsringen (Denmark) Markko Martin had a mixed result in the opening round of the season. The Honda Accord Euro-R that he drove had a major engine problem in the shoot out qualification and had to be changed and the car also suffered from a weak battery in the second race and therefore couldn't run anymore. His final result was 17th in the 'pre-final', but it seemed that Markko didn't expect a top result first off, as he knows he has more to learn. I've posted the link to the website here, and all in all, I thought it wasn't a bad first result. Just good to see that he enjoyed himself and is upbeat and positive about his initial result. Best of luck to him for the rest of the season-I'll be following his progress. DTC Site/page www.dtc-net.dk/default.asp?id=10657&nyhed_id=7310&pagetype=1

Nice to hear he was doing well in the race, even if it did end in the gravel trap!

Yeah-would have been a good race to watch-but alas, no footage available.

I'm pleased that he's at least doing something motorsport related, sounds like he's really enjoying himself in the series. Hopefully it would lead to him doing bigger and better things in the future. Oooh Markko in a V8 Supercar? I like the sound of that!

I think he'd enjoy himself behind the wheel of the V8 brutes too. Definately no shortage of grunt, and I'm sure the organisers would love the idea of Markko coming downunder to give it a go. But, Australia is a fair way from Europe-maybe a bit too far for him to consider the prospect.

Just figured I would update this thread in regards to Märtin's DTC experience. I have read on the DTC website (Link below) that Markko has decided to stop racing in the series, sighting lack of time and the fact that circuit racing hasn't really caught his interest. DTC Link: www.dtc-net.dk/default.asp?id=10657&nyhed_id=8378&pagetype=1I definately feel that the move to the DTC was a good one as it allowed Markko to get a taste of something different, but it was always going to be interesting to see how long it would last-and how much he enjoyed it. Of course he has his own rally team and motorsport business to run as well which would no doubt take a huge chunk of his time also. Especially considering the team has been bringing in some stirling results, with the most recent being a 2nd place for Martin Rauam/Kristo Kraag in the South-Estonia rally in July. There are still approx 3 rounds to go in the Estonian series and best of luck to the team for them; it's pretty exciting to have had such solid results in only their first season! Disappointing, but not surprising.
I suppose after what happened last September it would put you off properly racing again.

and the fact that circuit racing hasn't really caught his interest. TBH I don't think any type of racing has caught his interest now.

TBH I don't think any type of racing has caught his interest now. I agree. From all reports it would seem that he is happier being apart of the EOS team venture, and helping young talent find their stride. It seems to be working too.

Shame he isn't racing anymore, but it's perfectly understandable. At least he can find other avenues in motorsport
