I have always watched rallying on and off, but on my last trip to Botswana I was asked to be co-driver by my old school frined in a race he was taking part in. It was a dakar/bajar style race through the bush. My job was to keep time and be a 2nd set of eyes for wildlife. After he wrapped us around a tree I was hooked! ;D 2004 was my first season that I became completly obsessed though.

I got into rallying after I played Colin McRae Rally 2, and I really got into it when I beat "Colin McRae's" best time on a stage in Sweden on Expert mode and there I was thinking that I was the best thing sinced sliced bread ;D . I only really got into rallying in 2002, my favourite season, and I have recorded every single WRC event from 2002 Rally Cyprus up to 2005 Rally Germany...

I first got into the WRC in 1998 when I was about 10. My dad asked me if I wanted to come on a rally with him. At the time I didn't know what one was so I went along for the fun of it. I remember climbing up a hill at Wales Rally GB 98 (known as Network Q Rally of Great Britain back then) in the freezing cold at about 7am. It was dark and dusky, then all of a sudden Colin McRae come flying round the corner sideways up a long straight and passed me at about 100mph. I was blown over and have been hooked ever since ;D.

Y'all had a lot of encounters with Mcrae! I never seen the guy in live action or played his video games. I only see him on tv. My first experience with rallying started with a game called Gran Turismo 2. Its the first car game i've ever owned and I remember my dad buying it with a refurbished Playstation. The rallying feature on the game was new, so I tried it out, and then I was hooked! Rallying was so fun on GT2!!! I always drive the red and white Mitsu' Lancer Evo! My sis would pick the Subie Imperza to drive. But all I did was rally on that game and that's how I became interested. But I first saw WRC rallies in 2001 on my grandma's big screeen tv. I believe I saw Tommi Makinen @ Rally Safari. I don't remember, but I think that's when i started to watch WRC. I didn't watch it much in '01 and '02, but I started to watch the rallies fully in 2003. I never been to a real rally, but I hope I do someday.

I first got into Rally after I played Colin McRae Rally. It was a birthday present from my father. I liked it and I started watching it on TV.

I am just 19 years old soon 20 years old but I already got in the rallying at really young age. First rally where I was as a spectator was the 1987 1000 lakes rally where my father taked me with him,I dont remember anything to it but I have the event on VHS casette. First parts what I remember are the 1989 or 1990 when I was an Esa Saarenpää fan and I really loved his Esso coloured Audi. That I remember in the 1990 I was in the spectator event where Finnish drivers gived free rides in some yard and I was able to get to the Audi. I really remember how I was shaking when I walked away to the car and was really excited. Offcourse the speed was really slow to the 5 year old kid . For those days I have been watching the rally and my big favs was Alen and Vatanen in world level and Saarenpää. I still have an VHS many my recorded 1000 lakes rallyes to the TV and I really like to watch them. If someone is intrested,I have been inside at the co-drivers seat in Toyota Celica N gr car(ST205),in Toyota Celica(ST205) A gr. car and in Corolla WRC. All where I was were the spectator rides but my big event was in June when I was testing my own partly owned Lancia Delta S4 and also was driving the Peugeot 205 T 16 EVO II and the 94 year factory Subaru Impreza 555. I was quite slow with B gr. cars compared to them owner but it was in the twisty asphalt where I havent never driven and that I can say the power of those cars are unbelieviable and really scared me. Impreza was a nicer to drive but not easy for almost a rookie.

i watched it on and off before 2002, when i knew it was on like, but not fussing if i missed it. however these last few years i decided to watch it fully, and have since become hooked.
my first memories of wrc was the half hour reviews on bbc the week after the event (goodness knows how i would cope with that now) and getting colin mcrae rally 1 christmas.

It's about 10 years ago that I started watching rallying. I saw it on the TV by chance and loved it. I was thinking, "what's this rallying stuff?" That was back when Juha Kankunen and Colin McRae were driving the Subaru 555. I didn't get to see it much, 'cos it wasn't on TV but my interest grew.
I god VRally and CMR2. I loved to drive them although I wasn't very good.
Then in 2001, I went to Rally of Melbourne as a spectator. It was on and I didn't have anything else to do, so I went. WOW!!! Possum Bourne in the Subaru WRC!!! Oh yeah!! Then I was interested, so the next weekend I took a mate out in my car exploring the rally route. That was my first experience with driving on gravel and I was hooked.
From that point on, I wanted to be a rally driver. I'm not there yet, but the time will come when I get the chance.

Believe it or not I've always been a rally fan ever since I was small and a car fan from birth. When I'd see a rally car I'd go "Car, car, rally!" and I remember how I used to just peer out of my window and see everyday cars passing by and of course always trying to get my foot on the accelarator (dad used to catch me everytime though! ) and play with the gearstick. Boy those weer the days. I've always known I wanted to be something in cars ever since I was a wee 'lil tyke but it's only this year I decided (after a huge mind debate) that I wanted to be a rally driver and to give one of the biggest passions of my life a shot.

VRC is very expensive. Several thousand per event. I'll probably start in VCRS after doing some auto-crosses to make sure I can drive. I want to start in a rocket hatch, 'cos I love FWD hatchbacks.... I love driving the car with the left-foot (brake).
Hey, did you guys used to change gears? From when I was about 10, I'd get mum and dad to let me do the gears on the way to school.
