I think its cheating a bit, if you were in a drag race, its like just sticking a jet engine on the back of the car.
Also, you would never see a rally car using it.

*votes no* I think is like cheating too. And it won't help you out any if you run out! Besides, if your not careful, your car could blow up: And some might think it is the only thing that will make their car powerful.

True, it's pretty volatile stuff, and no good really for a rally car.
The boy racer crowd seem to see it as some sort of a wonder cure too, as if rather than spending time and effort with their cars to get them to a good standard of performance, all they need to do is splash out on the usual boy racer dream accessories, big wheels, spoilers and a tank of NOS, like something out of The Fast and The Furious.
Like something out a Gran Turismo game, but it doesn't work like that in real life, I'm more into oldschool car tuning, putting your time and effort as well as spare cash into getting your car the way you want it, and making changes that add up and make a real difference, these boy racer types like the idea of some wonder cure that makes an inferior car great just by bolting a tank full of explosive gas into the car. Which is all very well until the engine, which really isn't set up for it right because it's only a standard engine who's being force-fed NOS, blows a hole in a piston or something, or you run out of gas and have nothing but a little car with big wheels and a bodykit again. (well, that's the way the boy racers run about anyway.)

nos is not really cheating. it as as all other forms of tuning allows more oxygen into the engine which burns the fuel more efficiently. many kits also come with fuel and nitrous injection which allows more fuel aswel, thus it is purely annother simple way of tuning like a turbo. however it does not last long a 20 lb bottle will only last around an hour. and it is not that Volatile as it does not burn itself it only allows the fuel to burn better meaning that the scene in fast and the furious is actualy rubbish and just put there to make the film look good.

yeah i'm with james; its really just a performance-enhancement, same as tuning your car. although fast and the furious is a pretty good movie right?
