I was just wondering, if you guys have ever seen any rally accidents (this going from off roads till major crashes with flames etc. ;D) Vote and tell us something about it. My vote goes to 2 - 5, since I've seen two: I saw Stohl going off on the WRC Germany 2005 and I saw an unknown driver hitting a little tree on the Belgian Ypres Westhoek Rally. The tree just snapped and the car drove on, so nothing special. I haven't been very far off Solbergs major crash in Germany 2004 either, but I didn't see it happen, so it doesn't count. What about you guys? (Oh yes: Curt and other moderators, I didn't really know where to place this poll, since it doesn't belong in any specific category... So I placed it here, feel free to replace if you think it is needed.)

I have never seen any accidents when spectating at rallies. I think this thread is fine here as I take it you don't just mean WRC accidents.

2-5, although nothing serious.
The worse was at BRC Live when a Lancia 037 crashed in to a Triumph TR7 (I might be wrong with that), but the Lancia suffered awful damage.

Actually I just thought I have seen Gigi Galli crash the Mitsubishi Lancer WRC 2005 before at last years Rally Day, Castle Coombe. But that wasn't a rally, it was more just a show.

I've seen 2. One at last years Targa Tasmania when we were spectating and it snowed a bit leaving some ice on a 90 degree left hander. Third placed driver Tony Quinn was caught out by the ice in his 4WD Porsche(with a 10 - 90 percent power ratio!) and took out a road sign an hit some trees. Unfortuantley he couldn't reverse out and our car wasn't powerful enough to pull him out. Second was the one I described in the Mountain Stages Rally. About 4 meters away from me and he slammed his Gemini (Kadett) into a bank

Never seen a rally accident, let alone ever been on a rally stage myself Shame on me! Although I saw an accident at the Sandown 500 last year where a car had a massive roll a few metres in front of me, gave me a fright and a half I can tell you that.

Rally drivers seem to have good control when they pass me! I've only ever seen one spin at a rally and that was from the Bower WildCat course car in 2004! I seen a couple of spins at race tracks and a small collison on a first lap of last years Renault World Series weekend at Donington Park last year!

I have been on the rallyes already when I was 2 years old with my father and my father bought me my own rally VHS cassette at 88 when I was 3 years old. The first rallyes I remember myself are for 1990 and also at the same year I was first time in a rally car at the spectators day at near Tampere. Anyway the biggest crash I have seen came at 1991 when Tahko crashed a Golf in to the field and rolled it 7 times or even more. Yes the driver even suffered an injury and the stage was cancelled. I remember it very well.... Also at one F-Cup rally at Valkeakoski I was in one place where 6 drivers gone off and there would have even been more of them. It was quite funny to watch . Also I dont know is it counted but 2 years ago in Exide Rally I was in SS1 where was a cliff. When cars gone over it finally it camed out to the gravel and started to take drivers out, many of them damaged them car just for it but some needed to retire for it and 1 gone off to it. Also in all my years at 1000 lakes rally/Neste Rally history I have seen many crashes. There is so many of them that I dont even remember them all. Also I have been at 2 crashes myself when I was co-driving for my friend who has an F-Cup Escort. It just dont feel too great when you are rolling at inside the car So all I can say 10 is a small part of the crashes I have seen. I think its over 30 even but its over 20 for sure, that I can say.

I have seen plenty from the inside of a car!
I have been in five roll overs to date. I have lost track of the number of banks, rocks and trees that I have bounced off.

haha glen. I remember you and scott pedder in queensland. First day a roll and you glanced that tree. Next time you hit the tree a bit more hard!
And you had a few bad off's with John Goasduoe in the Subaru RS in South Aus in 2004.

And you had a few bad off's with John Goasduoe in the Subaru RS in South Aus in 2004. Yeah, another event with a crash in each heat! Is there a pattern here? Saturday's accident looked spectacular but only knocked a wheel off, and as it happened in front of a TV crew it was there for everyone to see. The crash on Sunday was pretty ugly as the tree stoved in the B-pillar on my side.

I have seen plenty from the inside of a car! quote] I can imagine-a completely different perspective there. The only major incident I 'half' saw was Daniel Carlsson at Rally OZ in '05. From where I was standing I saw him rocket around the bend-fly off into the trees, then a short moment later-lots of smoke and dull flames breaking around the base of the trees. I wasn't close enough to actually make out the car amongst the trees, there was just too much smoke to be able to tell where it came to rest exactly. Later on as we were leaving, we drove out of the stage via a road at the base of that hill where the car came off, and sure enough, there was the peugeot. I'll never forget it-just a burnt out shell; bit surreal.

Luckily I've never seen any bad accidents. Just a few minor ones where drivers have glanced trees, banks, bunting, ditches, rocks, etc. Chris and Ben Atkinson almost went flying off the road at a 90-right at Rally of Melbourne but they just cleaned up a few star pickets instead. Haven't seen any rollovers.
