And tipping entries have closed! Nick McRae and Mixa, be sure next time to add the first letters of the driver's first name as well (as the rules state). However it's quite clear who you mean at the moment so I'll get your tips in Ah apologies. Like Mixa I never used any Solberg's and had overlooked that rule change. Will make sure it's amended for Norway!

I find it interesting how small the time diff between Atko and Loeb is, ok, it is shakedown.. but still!

Aava was leading this morning but has slipped to 11th after stage 6, Loeb leads by 44 seconds over Sordo, with Hirvonen in third. Henning Solberg and Rautenbach 4th and 5th

Atko crashed during SS6 but nursed his stricken C4 through the stage and is 7th overall. He hit a telegraph pole.

Poor Atkinson.. ended 2008 in a crash and now he started 2009 with a crash. Hope he does good on day 2.

Watching the footage it was a biggie for Atko, the camera crew were quite lucky though!

After stage 11, Loeb has extended his lead to 1min12. Hirvonen has suffered power-steering failure, and is just under a minute and a half off Sordo. Henning Solberg is fourth, Chris Atkinson is fifth, Matt Wilson is sixth and Sebastien Ogier is seventh.

Woo, go Atko!! He's flying in that C4. Can't imagine he'd be setting those times in the Subaru. Good signs. That spin/crash was a biggie! The trees/poles always hit the co-driver's side don't they? Whoever wins this rally surely deserves it. In Seb's words "very tricky". A real challenge, exactly what the WRC should be.

Atkooooo!!! Had an off on the penultimate stage and buggered up my top 8! Oh well, "that's the way it is". And there's no Chris Atkinson in Norway. Rally Norway is looking pretty interesting with: - Petter Solberg in a Xsara, - Urmo Aava's last planned drive in the C4, - PG Andersson in a Skoda Fabia, - Mads Ostberg in a Subaru WRC08, - Sandell in the Skoda Fabia S2000. 41 entries including PWRC. After Rally Norway it looks pretty bleak.

- Urmo Aava's last planned drive in the C4, Not quite right Viv. Aava is entered in the Focus. Evgeny Novikov is entered in a C4 mind with Aussie Dale Moscatt alongside. Another interesting entry is a certain Mikkelsen at number 59 in an Impreza N14

Viv, I think it would be hard for Norway to be any less interesting. Ireland didn't carry the same amount of bang for your buck as it did in 2007.
I'm sure will see Atko in a C4 again this season though. Well I hope we do, no in fact we better do! Otherwise there will be explaining to do!

I'm not sure the coverage really did the conditions justice, but Rally Ireland wasn't so bad. It even had night stages! Wow!
It was a pity to see the locals bow out with mechanicals. Also a shame not to see Meeke or Wilks there in WRCars. But even so, I have a feeling there will be some rallies with 2 competitive Citroens, 2 competitive Fords.
Was it as good as a Monte? Probably not. But it wont be the worst rally this season.

Loeb and Elena had some fun through the Donegal Town stage. Precision drifting at its best. Sordo and Marti were awesome too. Both still incredibly quick on the snow tyre despite the antics. au.youtube.com/watch?v=PC6Yhp0YS4k
