Ive been following it up aswell but yeah I dont know how many has even noticed that the rally was on. Maybe people has just forgotten after a month at pause mode . Anyway quite a good start on yesterday. On those hairpins you can see how much traction the Citroen have more than any other cars! Fords are sliding and so are the Subies. Its just amazing how Citroen can stay up ahead year by year at tarmac. When you compare to last year the Fords were closer and in 06 when Xsaras were still the Ford´s would have beaten them at Catalan roads but now its impossible. Ok Duval when he will find the setups of an 08 Ford he will be going a bit better but we have to remember that Mikko aint bad neither in these roads. The setups are just so different between those guys (Mikko soft,Dudu extra hard) and both pulls the same times. Its also funny to see JML at Dudu´s Structo sponsored Focus 07. Its just the sponsor deal agreement stuff(money) why JML is driving the Structo car. Cant wait the 2nd day

I have a couple of questions...
1. How does Sebastien Ogier compare to the guys in WRC? Just how good is he? I've seen his driving in the flesh and he's bloody quick, but does that put him on Wilson's pace, Aava's pace or up with the big boys?
2. Where will JML emerge from his form slump? Granted, he wont win a title until he can match it on tarmac, which will probably be in 2010 if Hirvonen and Atkinson's learning rate carries across to Latvala. But he seems to have lost the momentum that he brought into the season. Corsica wont do him any favours, but then again, it will give him excellent road position in Japan. If he drops 2 points to Petter in these two rounds, he'll be behind all his major rivals. I'm really looking forward to that because Japan is a rally where Petter, Chris, Seb and particularly Mikko are all really quick. I think that will give us a great indication of just where Jari-Matti is in his development.
Can I just say, it's great to see Loeb finally being rewarded for being fastest. No tactics rubbish holding him back. He deserves this lead and I hope he goes on to win.

spun, damaged the radiator, hence wasn't able to reach the service = 10min penalty (SupeRally I suppose).

Seems like the Subies haven't changed position at all. Seems to me that SWRT has more than "new car" problems. I haven't been able to follow this rally as close as I'd like to, due to work related issues.

I haven't followed it because I can't be bothered. I'm low on internet anyway.
But it just looks like the same old story. Loeb wins, Sordo behind, followed by a couple of Fords, then either Solberg/Atkinson rounding off the points. Rather cynical, but that's my view of the way things are at the moment.

Hello..... anyone at this rally? Does anyone care? I think some Aussies might have been more interested in the other Tarmac rally this weekend (ARC's first tarmac round) But I hate to say it, WRC gets so boring this time of year. At the start of the year at least there is hype about all the new cars, new teams and new drivers. And Spain isn't the spectacle it used to be, no big bridge, no one doing donuts.... sigh... Also its so obvious who is gonna fill the top 2 places! Any tarmac round is starting to become like F1! Dull... Latvala has had a lack lusture rally. Ford must be glad they have Duval as Latvala is getting beaten by 3 Citroens, 2 Fords and 2 Subarus at the moment. Easily in danger in losing his seat for tarmac rallies but I wonder what will happen if Duval does score podiums in GB and Japan and Latvala doesn't...

Any tarmac round is starting to become like F1! Dull... Oi, steady I think Latvala's future is rather safe, it would be a bit of a knee-jerk to dump him if he has an ordinary run the rest of the year. His pace early on in the year was rather promising, maybe he's doing the old-push-hard-I-might-win-this-oh-woops-I-crashed routine that some youngsters face.

I have been forgetting to enter. Though I have one thing to say about the rally. WTF happened Duval could have come 3rd but was ordered to finish 4th. Someone please kick Mikko's bum as he can do better, hes proved it & knows it.

I did when he was in NZ! "Mikko, you have to win my home rally!" And he would have, had Latvala not gone out and ment that Mikko had to sweep the second half of the Whaanga Coast!

43 points of the end of season total Not bad! On Monday I told myself to make an effort to follow the rally, woke up late on Friday saw the leaderboard and immediately lost interest! I used to sit at the computer all day following the WRC events, now I sometimes forget that an event is on during the weekend! I think the titles are setteled now too, bar a massive disaster their going Loeb's and Citroen's way...

Geesh! 38pts in tipping, thats cool! Gratz Roo!
I must admit that I myself didn't follow this rally at all, I could only find time to log on and look at the standings only. Tirabassi's result isn't bad, the Subies need an adrenalin injection... Oh well, lets see the next run....

The result for Subaru is good, considering that they have done no extra tarmac testing following Rallye Deutschland. They only did testing at the shakedown the day before the event proper, and managed to get two cars into the points, and Brice finished the rally in a respectable position.
No surprise about the first two positions, but I am surprised that Duval relinquished third place to Hirvonen, after a similar situation occured in Germany, yet no team orders came about. Why now and not then? Malcolm shouldn't have bothered really, because barring any miracle or major error, Loeb has the championship firmly in his grasp.
