Taken a while ago... something like this Though these were taken last September, after 50mm of rain fell, it should be a lot drier, but it still very fast!!! Also plenty of room for spectators, there should be many too with the states known for large entry lists for rallies. So if you think that most people will come up/down who usually officiate etc. should mean a big beefy crowd of rally fans! With the roads being in fields for sometime, it will probably mean that there won't be too muc crowding if officials open up the stages and let people watch behind the fences... mmm fields of spectators... not as big as Monte but still many!!!

I'm quite disapointed I must say. I was expecting something similar to the old Rally Australia ... You know, clay coloured stuff, awesome jumps, bright colours etc. Haha! ;D The clay coloured stuff, and indeed the marble roads are unique to that area of Australia, and not all of Australia is the sunburnt country people think it is. The Eastern coast of Australia is similar to any green, temperate climate area, and there would certainly be areas that would be similar to NZ. Yeah I realise that it's not all postcard like. I mean for NZ, Hamilton certainly doesn't look like the postcard South Island places such as Wanaka and Queenstown! But still, disapointing Stupid temperate climates. Fast, narrow, tree-lined stages would be awesome though. Do you think that Australia will try and do some of the things that NZ do? Such as the live helicopter ('Eye in the sky') footage that you can watch from HQ/Service/Pavilion/Media room etc? It's very kiwi technology, but it would be cool if Australia could try to do it because it's one of the things I love about RalNZ and makes things more interesting when you're stuck at Mystery Creek and don't get the time to actually go out to stages! NZ's the only country that does it. But maybe, like the sponsorship deal, we can share? Ooo! And what about a super special? Any news? I think I'm jumping the gun a little, should give them more time to organise themselves

I believe that "Eye in the Sky" was used in the last Rally Aus in WA in 2006, and I think 2005 as well. Could be wrong though. Super special wise, I have heard of two possible locations. One is around the town of Kyogle itself, which could possibly be quite "bushy and stage-like" like Mystery Creek maybe, which would be really cool. The second option I've heard, which is probably the more likely scenario, is a stadium type stage on the Gold Coast.

Correct, Eye in the Sky was used in 2005 and 2006 -> If only they could get live interviews from the service park and live end of stage video interviews too!!! The stadium super special at the Gold Coast is likely due to the multi million dollar motor sport complex they are building there.

Huh. And all I kept hearing was "You guys are the only country that does this..." Maybe they just forgot cause Australia hasn't run since 06 BUT, I do know for sure that we were the first to have LIVE in-car footage from Hayden Paddon's car this year at Rally New Zealand. World first! A stadium set-up would be cool. Good for getting spectator numbers.

I'd be surprised if the Super Special was on the Gold Coast just because it's a NSW sponsored event. I am sure that the NSW state government would be telling the organisers to keep it all south of the border.
I've been involved in rallies enough to know that politics always gets in the way of good decisions.

I saw on another forum (a big one, can't remember if it was rallyforum.com or another one) that in Germany they had live onboard too from a privateer

That rally has the awesomest website ever. I wish I could be there. (the rally, not the website) Hope Atko wins there finally, and start his ascension to superstardom.

I second that! ;D Chris is doing so well, he just needs that little bit more and a bit of luck.
