The season will see the drivers battle it out over 13 rallies around the world. The season will begin on the icy Monte Carlo rally and finish at the 1000 Lakes rally in Finland. Start those engines!! Monte Carlo begins July 2nd 2006 Rally Calender -Monte Carlo -Sweden -USA Pikes Peak -GB -Portugal -Ivory Coast -Safari -Corsica -New Zealand -Argentina -Acropolis -San Remo -Finland 1000 Lakes Driver/Manuf. list *Disclaimer* As everyone knows during the Group B era drivers did die as a result of crashes. The drivers did survive all the crash pictures I will use(to the best of my research). If you know or find otherwise please let me know and I will gladly remove the picture.

It will be good to see some pictures of the Group B monsters. Just days away from firing up the Renault! Can't wait to let it loose on the stages.

**Rallye Monte Carlo Preview** With less than a week away the fans and drivers are getting excited for the 1st rally of the Group B season. What are we to expect in the 1st rally? Like the rally itself, a lot is rather like going into the unknown. The rally is about as unpredictable as the cars. The most powerful cars(Quattro) may not be the favorites. Monte Carlo is not about speed rather than precision and the utmost caution. This is a rally that will catch even the greats out. Another unknown is the Lada team. Not much is known about it apart from the drivers. It will interesting to see how this team does. The favorite is probably the Peugeot team. The 205 is a small and nimble car that will handle the twisty and icy mountain roads well. Anything can happen though.....we must wait and see! The format of the rally will be brand new also. The drivers should be pleasantly surprised with the new look which hopes to be better in terms of looks as well as information delivery. Don't forget to tune in July 2nd for the 1st round of the RFC championship!!

Sounds good, I'm very excited about this season.
Is it being run as in 1986 or in 2006 as a historic championship?
That way I know what to say for my views afterwards.
Thanks

**DAY 1** After much anticipation the RFC Group B Monte Carlo finally got underway. Husain was the early pacesetter of the morning. The Porsche team out to prove that they have what it takes. His lead didn't last long though as a number of drivers started bettering his time. In the end it was James who ended the day in #1 spot. His MG proving to be very suitable for Monte's curvy mountain roads. After setting some fast early splits, Vivski dropped down to 16th after a puncture. Also down in 16th was FTRS who was still coming to grips with his RS200. **DAY 2** Day 2 got off to a bad start for the Peugeot team as RJ had to retire with a blown engine. A huge disappointment for the young Australian. It wasn't all bad for the team though as Curt set another great time launching him to 2nd place. The only person to top Curt's time was CFinch but the damage from day 1 had already been done and he was still way down the leader board. Mixa was Curt's only real challenger as he moved up to 1st place, just a second faster overall. [ **DAY 3** Though 1st place was still feasible Curt and Mixa had left everyone in the dust by day 3. Mitch was about the only driver that had a reasonable chance of catching the top two as he trailed by 3 seconds. Curt and Mixa though weren't the ones setting great times. Tumbo set the fastest time finishing the rally in a respectable 7th place. Vivski also overcame his early rally problems and took 6th place. While Husain stayed out of trouble and made it to the podium. Nicole pushed too hard on the last stage and had to retire after hitting a barrier. Igor was also a driver who was on the throttle to much as he hit a cliff face taking him out of the rally. Mixa and Curt were in a class of their own though, taking 1st and 2nd place respectively. An amazing start to the Group B championship.

First of all congratulations to my teammate Mixa on his victory.
Well, I'm disappointed by the start, but 1986 is the year for me I'm sure about it. We have a good car, and I was pleased to be on the pace on day two. Without doubt the car seems 20 years ahead of it's time, and I predict the car will still be going well in 2006.
Away from the stages, I've just brought a NES entertainment system (that's a Nintendo), and one of those Rubik's cubes everyone's on about, and I can't wait for the World Cup in Mexico this year. My tip is Argentina, and Maradona will play a huge "hand" in that success.
Anyway, still a while to go, so I'm not worried yet ;D
P.S. Good work gren

"Flipping heck these things go fast. The car felt nervous and twitchy, which wasn't aided by the typical Monte Carlo conditions. I wasn't expecting a good run here anyway, so I'm glad to have finished the rally without damaging the car. Hopefully we'll pick up speed soon."
