I have finally started work on Rallystuff.net Version 3. So far Ive got most of the homepage finished, in terms of design. Here is the first print screen of many to come of V3: Rallystuff.net Version 3 Pic #1Rallystuff.net Version 3 Pic #2 - Updated on 18/07/2006 I plan to spend the rest of the day finishing the homepage as well as finishing the majority of the news section. Suggestions are still welcome. Thanks.

What are the differences? :S
I'm just confused because I think it's the site's natural layout which is so familiar to the free versions that just makes it look like the same thing - something that I've never seen on a VBulletin forum.

I mean the version that we're using now, the OLD rallystuff (first one). Also there are a few free versions and I'll look around for them but I hope what you catch what I mean. Sorry Curt, I'm not trying to be a pessimist just stating my opinion

Also for some reason the quality seems to be getting worse as there is now a mess around the yellow area and its not all one colour. I think it would be good to have random images as the banner so that it changes everytime you view a page.

The rallystuff logo I was displaying at the ARC looked pretty old. I think its the colours maybe. Maybe a few extra colours, larger text, a few rally cars in the banner.

Personally, I don't like only one thing... Why is there the Xsara always on the banner? I suggest that there were either not competing in the current champ car, or changing cars, like on Rallye-Info.

If it is at all possible to incorporate Curt, could you have a Flash banner with cars changing in the background every several seconds or so? Like one layer would have the text, effects, steering wheel and what not, and then a second layer with a loop of cars

Yeah, I agree. I plan to have some kind of alternating banner in use rather than the current one. Also that banner was designed to have options in the top right like in V2 hense the reason there is a line which travels up to nowhere. As for changing the actual logo itself I'm sure what else would fit. Also the logo is being used on boxes such as the News where it says 'NEWS' in the same font behind the text (bet you didn't notice that ) and also there is of course the small 'RS' logo being used. So changing the logo itself would be quite a long process. I don't mind doing it though, as long as a new logo can be found which is better than this one. Mitch, I think the reason your banner may of looked a bit old was just because it was on a solid brown background which didn't do it any favours.

I have been doing a lot more work on the news section recently, but progression is slow because Im building CSS styles at the same time. However once these are done then I should be able to get a lot more done faster. I have uploaded an image of how a news article with an external attachment will currently look (see 'Rallystuff.net Version 3 Pic #2' in first post). Ive decided to use the 'RS' logo on many boxes throughout the site, but not all of them. I plan to make the forum look very similar to this one hopefully.

An alternating banner is a good idea. It keeps it fresh. But not every few seconds... pic chosen randomly on each page load is a far better solution. Curt, I'd say it would be best if you overlay the logos and things on the banner image dynamically instead of saving the entire banner as a single image. That way it makes it much easier to change in the future.
Also, a minor content thing, but of course there will be top 5 in RFC and tipping on the front page with the WRC standings?
The main content block is looking good. A significant improvement!
I still think this forum serves the purpose fine... not broken, dont fix. Coding a forum is a heavy task, especially if you want to guarantee security, allow easy usage and modertation.
