Just wondering if there are any other MotoGP fans on this forum? Apart from Rallying, my other great love is the bikes and I was thinking we might get a thread going (this one) if anybody else was interested to have a chat about it. I noticed the V8 supercar thread happening, and that's really what has prompted my post here. With the season opening in Jerez-Spain last weekend, I figured it's a good time to start up a thread. Also, we now see the likes of Casey Stoner and Dani Pedrosa moving up onto the big guns from the 250cc class among other things; there is plenty to talk about. If no one is a Moto GP fan here and doesn't want to take part, no worries. Just thought it might give us an extra topic in between Rally's! ;D

Bikes aren't really my cup of tea, but I like to follow how the Aussie riders are doing in the series, I think Casey Stoner is a massive talent and will set the world alight, once Rossi goes off to do F1 or whatever Welcome back btw Lita!

really like the first MotoGp race, Rossi's incidents and then the fight back, Capriossi's drifting and the speed that Pedrosa showed

I'm a supporter of fellow Aussies Casey Stoner and Chris Vermeulen. Hope they do well this year! I'm not expecting them to set the world on fire or anything like that.
I'd like to see a different champion for once. I like Rossi but I think too much domination is bad for sport. I'd probably like to see Melandri get up.

I have a partial interest in it. For me, the qualifying is the most exciting!
Eurosport shows all the practices, warm ups and all class races so we get good coverage. I watched it from jerez, seemed a decent race.
I prefer Moto GP to Superbikes

Yeah I am a motogp fan also and deffinately love it! The races once again were really great specially Motogp what was tighter for ages and Rossi was really back because of the first corner and I quite enjoyed it because I dont like to Rossi.
In 125cc it looks to coming a season between Aprilia vs KTM. Kallio and Simon done quite a nice race but both said that in the long straights we didnt had changes to overtake Aspar team guys(6 top Aprilia racers) so thats it but it has been expected to turn on the twisty circuits.
In 250cc my fav Lorenzo finally taked the win and didnt done stupid mistakes. By the first race I say Lorenzo will dominate the season and take the championship before mid season if the weather keeps to be good. Fortuna team is just so strong but maybe the Humangest Honda guys can challence them in some rounds but a question is how quickly Porto will be in shape again?? When the brake comes and Porto will be able to recover in late season its sure that he will start to fight for wins.
In MotoGP it wasnt a surprise that Capirex won and taked it by style. Still he said that he was impressed to Repsol guys speed and specially Pedrosa´s one as we all were! All the rest drived a nice race but will the young guys be able to continue good performances?? I say yes so be ready. I am specially counting to Elias on this case. Ducati will be strong in the future too and in MotoGP it seems that Bridgestone has passed Michelin on dry weather also. Also Yamaha´s poor season just gets going as some new problem has appeared to them bike. Edwards example said that it was hard to pass Checa who drives and old bike and even with Dunlop´s what is the most poor tyre for sure in MotoGP class at the moment.

Well, it's a pretty good response overall guy's, I wasn't too sure if anybody was interested or not.
BTW, thank's FTRS for the welcome back! Sorry for my absence over the past few weeks, have been looking pretty full on for a new job and it's been taxing. So, I haven't had too much free time on my hands with preparing for interviews and the like.
Anyway, it seem's that we have the basis for a decent thread on the bikes.
I'm definately of the opinion that Stoner and Vermeulen will be awesome talents with a bit more time and experience. In the first race I was blown away by the speed of Pedrosa, he flew. And as has been said here before, Rossi's domination in the sport has been overwhelming, but the first race in Jerez was certainly a surprise to me, where he got knocked off the bike, courtesy of a jolt from Elias. From all reports he is looking at moving to F1 next year; shame to see him go, but new blood has to be given the chance as well-and it's exciting with the likes of Pedrosa, Elias, Hayden, Stoner and Vermeulen etc...
I agree with you Mixa on the matter of 'Loony' Lorenzo, what a gun he is. It's characters like that that really bring out the best in everyone. Whether it be Rallying, Bikes, etc...you need people like that. He will definately take some top wins this season. Kallio is terrific as well, but I guess he's maybe not as willing to take so many risks like Lorenzo-that doesn't mean he won't win races, I think he'll still do quite well this season.
Well, onto next race-hopefully it will be just as action packed as the first.

Well, I am stoked-this weekend not only do I get to watch Rally Argentina, but it's MotoGP time in Istanbul,Turkey on Sunday. Awesome circuit with great corners and should provide us with some spectacular action. ;D For the big race-gotta go with Rossi, but Gibernau has been hitting some reliable form lately as has Hayden-who knows. I think if Rossi gets the break on them early, and his tyres last out, he'll be the victor though. And, being patriotic, lets go Stoner!! Last two results have been fantastic; he should be right up there too. As for the 125cc and 250cc's-Pasini for the 125's and Locatelli-depending on his position on the start grid, should take out this one as well. Monster weekend for Motorsport fans-bring it on!

This will be game on for Vermulan, Stoner and Westy in the 250s. They're all proven wet weather talents. Should be a couple of great races.

WOOOWWWW!!!!!! deAngelis.... best save EVER!!! Has anyone seen a photo or video of it online? WOW!
Yeah, Stoner was awesome. I thought it was his race but Melandri got it perfect at the end of the back straight. Maybe Stoner could've squeased him but it was just a brilliant move. Too good. Great shame but Stoner has arrived! What a great race. I hope all the races are like that! Stoner, Pedrosa, etc... Rossi, Melandri, Hayden, Elias... it's going to be a great championship. Wish we had this much competition in WRC!

Yeah all for those races were great. In 125cc all of us needed to get disappointed down here on Finland when KTM decided to break down. I think Kallio would have won it.
In 250cc there were many accidents and that 5 man crash in the 1st corner stopped Lorenzo for winning to 1 race. If he just stays up he will win every race this year. His bike is just that good but it was still great to see many great battles. Offcourse Barbera done some drama out there but that huge gone off at last lap wasnt his fault. I was happy to see KTM coming first but that save for De Angelis for his own fault was nice. The track barrier was really close and if he would have hitted for it then his career would be over for sure or even worse.
In motogp Bridgestone had the advantage at rainy weathers but in the race it turned upside down. All of Bstone guys were lost and Michelin mens camed to behind and taked the race. Awesome get up for Melandri and a win for him was a great one. Also for the years Rossi aint dominating and I am extra happy for it!!!
ps. After Motogp I watched DTM(Deustche Tourenwagen Masters),what a great race on that once again. Schneider won with Merc,Kristensen 2nd with Audi and Häkkinen 3rd by team order because Mercedes decided to do so after Green decided to overtake Mika for touching his car.I didnt see anything bad on it and dont understand Haug´s decision.
