I like the Impreza, but just for it's exterior design, I guess... ...I also like the 206, maybe for same reasons... ... but I guess I like the Focus, overall. ;D

Well, I like the designers work. I would also say I like the handling of theese cars, but I've never driven 'em, so... (too bad, uh? haha ;D I'm sure we all dreamed with that at last once...). I do can say I like some things from 'em, like the gears selector, in the steering wheel. I also like, from the Focus, the Cossworth engine. It really suites the car and it makes it a really fast and competitive one. Imagine this: Toni Gardemeister drove the Fabia last year and in 2003 and he didn't do any big impresion because of the car performance. Look at him now, with a much faster, reliable, competitive and easyer to drive car: in only his first two eventos for the blue oval, he already took two podium places and now leads the championship!. Difference is so big between theese cars!.

The Imp never had a WRC career as it was rallying before the current World Rally Championship was around, but it was a real rally legend, and I should know since I've got one. Part of the reason it had the status it did was because it was a real giant killer, it might only have a small (998cc) engine in works spec, (875 as standard but I've heard of 1200cc conversions but the reliablility suffers a lot) but it's light weight and great handling (the only car I've ever driven that genuinely doesn't need to slow down AT ALL going round corners, actually it's better if you keep the throttle down in corners, or the lift off oversteer will throw you into a ditch! ;D ;D ;D The result of that was that even though the Cortinas and Healeys etc were meant to be faster, and were in a straight line, they couldn't corner nearly as well, so the Imp was always a contender. It was an excellent circut racer too, it won the BTCC three times in the 70s, even though it regularly went up against cars like V8 engined Chevorelets, Lotus Cortinas, and the like.

What years were the Imps rallying in?

Well they were released in 1963, and people started to use them for motorsport almost immediately, but the works rally cars were in use from 1964-1970, but Imps were in motorsports use from their release until much later, they even won the BTCC three times running, and plenty of other events, try this page... www.imps4ever.info/racing/index.htmlMarkku & Jukka Kuosmanen Finnish Winter Rally 1996/1997 (he won against much more powerful, and much more powerful, in some cases 4x4 cars, as far as I know! Outright winner, not class!! A Bevan Imp Another Bevan
