Looks a good calendar to me. The only one I'll miss is the Monte Carlo, but the organisers already told us that they're not planning to rejoin the WRC.

As far as new cars, I think that it would be nice to have Volkswagen Golf Mk V GTi, BMW (M3 maybe), Lancia, Mitsubishi Evo X, Proton Satria Neo S2000, Mini S series, and Peugeot 308 GTi. What do you guys think? Any other cars you'd like to see?

As we know Mini is coming with the Countryman. Also in some japanese magazine, where an article and photos for Toyota´s return with the Auris what had a bit similar look with Suzuki´s SX4 but I keep Toyota´s return as possible. Also Skoda is rumoured to do a WRC package into Fabia S2000.
Also I see other marques to return but probably not at the 2011. Open tyre into 2011 campaign creates also more possibilities. Example on both Mini´s and at introduction of Citroen DS3 R3 both were having BF tyres. Specially Citroen going back to BF is very likely, specially as we know that Citroen has been always co-working with them.
Interesting 2011 to come, must have to say.

As Mikko mentioned in the other thread, the FIA has announced some changes to the WRC for 2011. See the new rules here: wrc.com/news/bonus-points-up-for-grabs-on-wrc-events-in-2011/?fid=13581- Bonus points (3-2-1) for one stage run on the final day of each event. - After round 5, only 2 engines can be used for the remainder of the season. - 1 minute intervals unless there is a need for dust gaps. What do you think?

posted to here now too...
yup and its been confirmed also way way back already that Pirelli is out of WRC next season and Michelin has already been testing some things to the 2011 season. I think its a good thing to get Michelin back. Pirelli has done better job than I expected but still there has also been too many errors, just like back in the days when Michelin was fighting against Pirelli at the war.
Also Meeke continued a great showing of the Citroen DS3 R3 . It truly shows that the car is capable for rallying even when its not the WRC car and looks to be setting a good fight for Ford at 2011. DS3 R3 is also now very wanted car among the youngsters because its been beating up the cars like Clio´s and S1600´s quite easily on these 2 showings. Next outing if Im not mistaken will be San Remo at IRC.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also future of WRC is on doubt once more.... its been rumoured that manufacturers were far from happy to new rules what FIA made for next year. After round 5,there will only be 2 engines to use for the next events. Quite pointless in my mind, specially when WRC is going to new 1.6ltr turbos what the teams dont have too much experience. Also for new teams, the rule in my mind is disastrous. How you can test the things of the new cars if testing is quite limited and also you should test the car on the events and known for it?? if you use the 2nd engine already soon and will start to get sanctions like time penalty for that?? soooooo stupid!!! To be honest,I think it will kill most of the interest of new manufacturers.
Also there were announced that on 1 live stage what comes to TV, to make them more excited you will gain bonus points for success. ---Sad but was tried already at the end of 90´s and weren´t working. Also has been critisized already among the fans that will work as a point automat for good drivers to gain more points+ also works for the retired drivers to gain points witch otherwise would be impossible

The only good new rule I find is the 1 minute interval.

1 minute is very close. If someone loses some time in a ditch, they'll very likely come back on very close to another car... either in front or behind. There's also the question of how quickly you can get out of the car and get the boards out when you've left the road, before the next car comes.
But at the moment, only the P1 drivers have 2min gaps anyway. All the SWRC and PWRC cars have 1min gaps already. And they do complain from time to time about being held up.

Yes 1 minute interval is way too small to P1 drivers. It just wont work. Also how to they know in what rallyes is it dusty and on what isnt?? Also was the rally, even like Rally Finland if you catch 40 second of the car ahead of yours, it turns into nightmare already even when the guy ahead would still have a 20 sec. gap.
Also we can even add for that a huge safety risk as there are always people who tries out of the stages. I guess its also one of the ideas on this to help with traffic jams+ to make people to stay in the place them are. Not rally friendly but easy to control.
Also as a 3rd point why I see this as bad is the current ranking based system. Lets say guy like P.Solberg will retire at the first event and will start behind 1 point scorer Al Qassimi on the 2nd rally and catches him at each stage. No doubt on that one!! Same with wildcard entries so top privateers. As people know them are seeded always behind the regular WRC drivers.
Also as Viv said, PCWRC and SWRC+ also juniors has been complaining a lot for 1 minute interval. It just don´t work. Also as was said the road gets blocked easily and also stages will be cancelled. Actually it happens pretty often that the stage is on cut, atleast a while in PCWRC or JWRC.

Just to make it clear, the next message is nothing but rumours! Today I met Isidoor Smets, a Belgian co-pilot who sat next to Freddy Loix for several IRC rounds in 2009. He told me that Freddy is surely planning on continuing in the IRC next year, however this might not be with a Skoda Fabia S2000. He told me they (Skoda) are now concentrating on their entry to the 2011 WRC season with a new Skoda Fabia WRC! This news is from a good source, however nothing has been confirmed officially as far as I know.

Yup,there has been talks about this at some other rally forum boards too and they really believe that Skoda is actually making a kit to the Fabia S2000 to make it available for WRC. Them would also run with 1.6t .
Still as has been said,Skoda has sold most of the S2000´s them had and what Ive been reading to forums, people has said that them would stay at IRC and there concentrate for the privateers. Also Hänninen and Kopecky would do some selected events and otherwise would concentrate as factory drivers for WRC.
We might see them already at 2011 at selected events but the goal has been given to 2012-2013 .

The new WRC cars are going to be QUICK!
I will miss the current WRC cars, but I'm sure the WRC will be better off with the cheaper new cars. It should allow more fast drivers to be competitive (maybe even locals).
It might put Wilson outside the Top 10 on every rally.
There are plenty of quick drivers struggling to put the budget together for WRC. It should theoretically help Petter Solberg with his rally team as well (provided he can sell his C4 and Xsara to get some funds back).

Olivier Quesnel announced to the french magazine L'Equipe that he released Sordo from his contract with Citroen, because the brand decided to invest only for two cars. Sordo has now the permission to seek for another team, unless he manages to find the money to stay with a Citroen.

yup true too. Sordo is now free and the case is exactly as you said. The case with Räikkönen is also unsure and also as in other medias has been said, its believed that Novikov is also talking with the Citroen about the car.
Also in French news some time ago was that P.Solberg will be the 3rd factory Citroen next season but I don´t know should I take those as serious. Can of course be like that.
The main reason why Citroen doesn´t want to give cars to everyone is their limited backing at the first year. Them don´t want their secrets to end up to wrong hands but also them wants to make sure that them gets enough cars to be builded for their factory drivers.
