this years rally new zealand saw many top teams fall out of the leaderboard as the tough roads got the better of them. in fact a total of 15 crews did not see the finish of the event.
there was drama when it was found that the martini ford of colin mcrae was underweight, forcing him out of the rally "i cant believe it, ok for sure iv not had a clean run, but we had a fastest time and i was happy with the pace of the car, im not pointing fingeres at the team, its a small mistake"
the lions05 team had a rally to forget, with all but one car crashing out.
team mixa will be feeling bitter, as both cars stopped on the fist stage, as did panizzi in another citroen C4 RRS.
of course, the podium finishers all had a good run, giving the crowds something to smile about. the top three cars were often only seperated by a few seconds in the bitter fight for victory.

The Fellowship of the Middle-Earth Rally Team are proud for the result. They showed reliability of the car, and for the next rally - Rally Finland -, the head of the team Lord Sauron Light is expecting at least podium for Galli and at least 1st place for Gronholm. The team, protected by the Ring, hunts only for victories.
The team congratulate Rowland Rally Team, MI5 and Moose Power Rally Team, but promise them no easy life for the next rallies.
News from the design centre of the team: Designers of the team made an updated color scheme for the car with flame behind the Ring. The administration of the team, and Lord Sauron Light personally, promise to introduce this scheme after the first podium for any of its crews.
Good luck to rivals!!! You will need it ;D

An excellent result for our time, Sebastien really felt at home with the car and the proof is in the results, he and the team are hoping similar results in the coming rallies. Unfortunately Chris was having a good run until he made that error which caused him to retire, thankfully the damage isn't critical and he'll be ready in time for Finland

News from the Moose... Team Boss: "We are happy with this rally. It could have gone better, but at least we got both cars to the finish. Gilles was in a good position for points but his Ford had some fuel pickup problems. "These 6 points have given our season some momentum so now we'll hope to carry that into the next rally in Finland. We dont expect to win in Finland, but if we can get both cars in the points that will really set us up for a good season." Loeb: "We had good pace here. The car was good and I had a good feeling. We were only 10s off the win, but we are very happy to be on the podium." Panizzi: "It was looking good but in the last stage there was a problem with the fuel and it kept cutting out. Not fun at 150km/h! It lost us about 20s and put us out of the points."

hmmm,it seems all gone just as I said in Montes press release. This was a good lesson for our team that C4 has the speed but its broke down too easily. Oh well I wait Finland to be better that my cars even goes on a one stage more

I am happy with the whole team for richards close victory, giving us our very first RFC victory. we are less happy with our no2 driver, who has still not impressed this season.
a joint lead in the championship is good, and as long as richards car hold together we hope for a good run in finland.
burns "the car was good, the tyres were ok and robert did a great job, my driving was ok i guess but I was always on edge waiting for the car to breakdown... but i think i can do better in finland"

Finch International Motorsport picked up their first points of the season in New Zealand, Marcus Gronholm coming home a respectable sixth in the 307. Gigi Galli had an off road excursion and failed to finish though which was a disappointment to team boss Chris Finch.
"I was pleased with Marcus. After the disaster of Monte Carlo, we needed a good finish, and it was vital to get off the mark. We are not too far behind the leaders, and with consistent finishes from Gigi and Marcus we can challenge for the title"
Gronholm had mixed feelings, "The car does not go how I want it, we should be higher than sixth. Pah!"
Galli refused to speak to the media, and Finch would not answer questions on the reliability and outright pace of the 307.
So Gronholm not happy with the car then, and the first rumblings of discontent are coming from the FIM garage.

Middle-Earth Rally Team news before the Rally of Finland Yesterday Marcus Gronholm and Timo Rautiainen tested the new gravel specification of the 307 WRC on the night roads of the Shire, near the Hobbiton. The testing which included about 300 km of fast roads similar to the finnish ones, became a good promise for Bosse to take his first win of the season on his home soil. Marcus Gronholm: " The test was very successful and I think we have a good chance of taking the victory in Finland. The car is very fast and I beleive I can use the 100% potential of it to do my best at home! Thanks))" Timo Rautianen: " Marcus was very impressive as he broke all the records prevously set by test-drivers on stages by more than half a minute! If he is able to be as fast in the rally, so... guess who will be the winner! Oh, also the car was absolutely reliable during the test session!!See the photo from the night test:
