Thanks for your suggestion Viv. When you talked about the banner images do you mean only saving part like Rallye-info.com do:
www.rallye-info.com/images/topimages7/2005germany_sola.jpg
Instead of saving the whole banner like this:
rallystuff.net/curt/Images/Headers/header004.jpg
If so, I agree. I thought that not long ago with my blog site, but it was too late and I dont really plan to make any changes to the test/blog site now. Its served its purpose.
As for the forum I won't start using the forum instead of this one until Im sure that it works just as well as this one, if not better. I agree that there isn't anything wrong with this forum, I just don't like the fact there will be two membership systems, so one member could have two different usernames (for example you may have Vivski here, but choose to have Viv on the website. Then if someone chooses the username Vivski on the website it will become confusing). Also members will have to sign in twice, and I dont really like that idea. This forum will still be in use for a long time yet though as like I said, I won't release the new one until Im quite sure it works well.
Ive had a problem recently with V3. My original plan was to allow authorised users to upload images when posting news onto the site. The images is then resized to two different sizes and saved twice. This way thumbnails of the image can be used on parts of the site. However when resizing the image it distorts just as if I was changing the dimensions using <img> tag properties. From the looks of it Rallye-Info.com are having the same problem as this as there homepage images look very distorted. So at least this problem wont be rare.
I haven't had chance to do much V3 today but I plan to get a few more of the admin features finished tonight. Also Ive come up with a more advanced way of managing the admin controls. V2 used a membership system which allowed all members to edit any of the site. Whereas with V3 admin members will be allowed to assign specific permissions to individual members (for example, Gren has offered to send newsletters each month so he could be assigned the 'Newsletter' control).
