Ive had an idea for the logo. Would it be possible to do the same sort of design as the old logo where 'rally' was in one colour and 'stuff' was in another with no space between and .net at the end. However I don't want to keep the exact same design as the current logo as I don't think that would suit the new website design, and I think the site could do with a new logo. The logo could also do with being larger.
I also think the website could do with having a rally car on the header somewhere. I don't know if that idea of having random images of rally cars appear could be possible in this design, but I think it would certainly make it look better. When you look at rallye-info.com you know straight away that its to do with rallying from seeing the huge image of a rally car on there. I think we could do with something similar to that.

i suppose, but isnt the word "Rally" a bit of a giveaway.
or do you mean for people who do not know what rallying is, and the picture might give them an idea

This is the kind of effect you can get from using the opacity CSS property (or any good image editing software). This is obviously just an example, but I like the way the colour and texture come through the image. I have to ask, please do not save this image to your computer, the image of the car is not my property and you could get in trouble for using it. img360.imageshack.us/img360/2456/rallystufftest32su.jpg

Is there going to be any Flash interface on the header or the buttons, etc. within the website? If you want, I can quickly sketch up a design of the logo If so, what is the colour code of the red you use I think the colour behind the steering wheel is 501414 (HEX).

Sorry for the delay - my hard disk died and it took a while to get back online. I still expect to be finished on time, however, so don't worry. I decided to move on with converting the image into a site rather than tweaking it as is - I figured it's easier to see what needs to change with the site in HTML. It isn't finished by a long way, but what's done (the main page and the news section) can be seen at evernet.co.uk/rallystuff, with the interface to add new news stories at evernet.co.uk/rallystuff/addnews.php, although I expect that won't really affect many of you. I still welcome any comments, but I don't intend to make any more design changes until the conversion to a site is finished - that way I can be more certain of delivering something working on time, even if it needs a few minor aesthetic tweaks. (Sorry for the rather boring news articles - I've been testing the system, since it'll be at the heart of the gallery and teams sections as well.)

The website is planned for release on October 7th 2005 (this Friday). However we still haven't got a suitable logo. Does anyone have any suggestions for the design of the logo?

The scary thing is that I was still able to read all that latin But I think english would be preferable that way a lot less conjugating has to be done ;D

Show off; I can only do about half the Latin. But seriously, I have a question. I'm working on the media section ('gallery' is changing to 'media' to encompass more types of media file) and had a question for everyone, concerning the layout of the media files. Would you prefer a tabulated list with file information - date, type etc - or a grid pattern with the data beneath? I'm in favour of the grid pattern, but either works.

Yep, rallye-info is just an all-round great site.
I also like the grid (leaves more room for thumbnails). With the media, it would be good to have the file size next to the name... that way we know what we're getting into when we click it.
And Curt, do you think you'll want a longer description field for some photos or videos? Some have an interesting story behind them.
