Version 2 of Rallystuff.net has been online now since October 2005. Although the current version is helpful in terms of news and images, a third version of the site is planned for Autumn 2006. Current plans for the site include news, images, results & reviews. Also the current competiton system is going to be rebuilt so that members will not have to reply to automatic emails for their entry to be accepted. They will be able to login and enter as well as viewing their previous results and previous winners etc. This login system will be different to the forum though. Work on the site is planned to start next month. If you have any suggestions for Version 3 please post them here. Any suggestions will be most appreciated. Thanks.

There's lot to be done if we want rallystuff to break the press-copying norm. I can't think of anything tonight but how about we: Make RFC an official in-RS game just like the voting system and post it over various message boards. Rally enthusiasts will flock here just for a laugh and soon other rally forums will be copying us and we'll gain notorioity for creating it (Gren made it IIRC?) OK done

Yeah like Join the Rally Fantasy Championship, far more competitive without Loeb!
New livery (colours) what about silver and a dark blue, so way more modern colour scheme.
Maybe we can advertise TopRally a bit more and have a board devoted to it.

I plan to keep RFC and TopRally related topics on the forum. I feel this way members can discuss them more easily. I'm looking for suggestions more like what to have displayed in drivers profiles etc.

Well Curt if you need any help with designing the website, I can help. I know a lot about designing with Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 and especially about dynamic websites. I can do my thing in Photoshop too, but not with photos, more like designing laser effect pictures etc. My friend will help me with this.

Thanks Hurricane. I think in terms of coding we ( me & sam ) have got that covered, but we may need some help with images whilst making the site so your help would be greatly appreciated.

Construction of version 3 of the site is likely to start within the next month. I won't be creating all of the site. Forum member, Sam, will be creating the majority but I hope to help out where I can. I have been developing my skills recently with my Personal Blog Site but I still don't think I have all the skills required to fully build this site single handed. So far the features that are planned are: MembershipUnlike the current site there will be a free membership. The membership system will be used to make competition entry more easier than the current system of having to enter your username/email every time and then get it approved. The membership system will also be used to allow members to submit their own reports which will then be accessible to the public. Also the membership system will be used to allow different access levels. This membership system will be different to the one used at this forum, so you will have to remember two sets of usernames and passwords, unless you choose the same for both which will probably be the best method . NewsThe news articles will be pretty much the same as the current concept however hopefully with the help of some members there can be more articles posted. ImagesRather than just images from the World Rally Championship, for V3 there will be images from different championships all around the world. If you become a new a member for the V3 website you will be able to upload your own images to the site which will be viewable by the public. Team/Driver/Event ProfilesHopefully the new site will also have a section for profiles of teams, drivers & events. These will also have statistics on each driver as well as past results etc. If this feature is to be used on the site it will require help from current members as I won't be able to back log every driver/team myself. CompetitionsThis will be based on the current competition system however there will be past results available on the site. Also in members profiles you will be able to view how many competitions they have entered, their best result, how many wins, average wins per entry etc. Also as i mentioned above the annoying process of having to enter your username/email then reply to an email sent will be scraped. Instead logging in and entering is all you will have to do. Currently no system has been developed to automatically calculate who has won each each event etc, but I'm sure this will be possible with a bit more thinking. ForumFor the moment the forum will stay located here at proboards.com. I have built my own forum on my Blog Site, but this is still very basic compared to the service proboards.com offers. However there may be a change over for V4 . The layout of the forum's boards may be changed slightly when the new version is released. I have had a few requests from members to expand on the 'Non-WRC' board so that instead there are different boards for different countries (eg. 'British Rallying', 'Australian Rallying' etc). DesignSo far the plan for V3 is to keep the design of the website in terms of colours the same. Forum member, 'jward', who built Version 2 of the site spent quite a bit of time designing the website and I think its worth while keeping it. If you have any more suggestions before Version 3 starts construction please post them here. Thanks .

I would be happy to help with any profiles.
The problem with separate boards for Australian, british rallying etc. is, with still being quite a small forum, there might not be much to put on there, if you see what I mean. The current Non-WRC board works well, dividing it up, could create too few posts on too many boards.
I think.
Final decisions yours though.

When V3 is released I'm hoping the amount of members should increase so these boards will fill more easily. I see your point though. Thanks for your offer to help with profiles . What I really should of said in my last post is help with inputting past results. Because once they are put in the profiles will work themselves. For instance if a previous result is put in for Monte Carlo 1980, an event Walter Rohrl won, then the system will automatically update Walter Rohrl's profile to show he won that event, and increase the number of wins he has had. I'm not certain how much detail should be put in the results but it would be best if its consistent. So if the top 20 from Sweden 2003 are entered into the results, its important only the top 20 are entered into the results for Sweden 2004.

Would 20 be the right amount for each rally? I suppose a database would do that, yes? How long back would you want the results?

You wouldn't have to enter all the results yourself. I could do some as well. 20 was just an example. I think 25 places would be a better amount as its more accurate. In the end I think recording every WRC rally right back to 1973 would be best as that way every drivers profile will have correct information. Thats why I said you dont have to do every single one yourself .

I could provide annual pictures of the Belgian Ypres Westhoek Rally (ERC) Since I'm a marshall at TCin there I can easily get some close-up pictures of the drivers and the cars!
