Hate to say it, but I think the end of Rallystuff maybe nearing. Curt seems to have gone and new members and post counts seem to be right down.
Heck, even the legendary chrisfinch only posts sporadically on here these days. 1678 posts since I joined in January 2005-thats over four years ago!!! I think this was probably the first forum I signed up for and I'm still (sort of) here.
But you've gotta appreciate the work of Hurricane, Will, FTRS, Vivski and the others who have been on this forum forever and keep topics going for each rally and keep updating news.
Each time I come back, theres less and less posts but its still a friendly face. In four years I can only recall a couple of controversies about.

I think there are a number of reasons for the slowdown.
A lot of what were "younger" members on here are now reaching tertiary education and beginning university and/or work. Running a website no doubt takes a lot of ones spare time, and once you get to uni or start working, you have a lot less spare time. The spare time you do get, you want to spend on what you want to do, not necessarily slaving away on the computer.
Also the WRC, one of the major focuses of the forum, is at a low point at the moment. The withdrawal of a number of manufacturers and drivers has led to many losing interest.
It is good that the FIA have finally made a decision and have decided that S2000 will be the top formula from 2011 onwards. At least there is no some certainity in the sport until they are able to determine a new WRC formula. S2000 has been very popular in national rally championships and rallies as a reasonably cost-effective way of rallying compared with WRC cars.
It will be interesting to see whether the changes in the WRC in the next year or so, will bring about an increase in interest for the forum.
Another thing too, is that I do miss being able to read and post news articles on the home page. I think we were only realising the potential of it when the page went down. There was potential to post not just about the latest happenings in the WRC and IRC, but national rounds in the UK, Australasia, USA and wider Europe.
But as Chris said, the members that are still here are a friendly bunch, and that will always be RS.net's main advantage over forums such as motorsportforums, where bickering and intimidation is a common occurrence.

I still take my Rallystuff.net banners to all rallies and racing events in the UK - so there's hope yet!

I spoke with Curt about RS.Net:
He seems to have no time at all to continue development on RS.Net. He's just been promoted to Senior Developer at his work.
We agreed, though, that a total redevelopment of the website might be a good idea. I'm up for this job and I'm sure there are others here that would like to help. I'd like to redo the website in PHP, since I'm more at home in that language. I'd support the whole thing with a framework called CodeIgniter. I already have code ready for a forum, news page, ... from other projects.
Who's up for being a helping hand (especially in design, since I have no clue on that)? I'll keep the posted ideas in mind, but new ones are also welcome!
Let's bring RS.Net back to life!

I'm the Art Director at my work (because I own it ) I'd be happy to take onboard the visual aspect of the site. I'd like to take the site into a new direction, but that's dependent on what the other guys want to do with the site. If it's just having a forum, it'll be a piece of cake. Developing a RSv2 kind of site might be slightly trickier. What I'd need from anyone involved in the physical development of the site is to provide a brief of what needs to be done visually - such as what pages you want conceptualised and any other visual elements.

For sure in my case it was the fact that I have grown tired of the WRC. Lack of coverage and poor competition made me look else where. I would still like to help anyway I can though,

That's why I would not only concentrate on WRC anymore, but also give more attention to IRC, national rallies, ...
It's not the plan to only get a forum FTRS, since that's what we already have here. I like to get the news pages, gallery, profiles, polls, ... back. In short: the website as it was before it went down, together with new features and possibly a new design.
You can always make some designs and suggest them here . I think keeping the same colour scheme is the best idea, as it has already become some sort of "trade mark" for RS.net

I'd be willing to try and write up the 2 Motorsport News articles we were allowed each week, although given the site downtime that agreement may have to be rearranged, but we can always contact them!
And Will, your signature. I still stand by that comment.

Yep the very same Gateshead Viv! Made the trip up there from Telford for a football match. I won't repeat what I think of the place, just read Will's signature!

Any word from him?
I'd like to have some ideas for a design for a new RS.net website.
